What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Venza?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE is the most stripped-back version, while the XLE adds a larger touchscreen, roof rails, simulated leather upholstery, and some safety enhancements. The Limited adds the most premium equipment, including a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid system with 219 horsepower, a CVT, and standard all-wheel drive. It is tuned for efficiency and smoothness rather than sporty acceleration.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. The XLE adds front and rear parking proximity sensors and reverse automatic emergency braking.
• Infotainment: The base LE gets an 8-inch touchscreen, while the XLE and above upgrade to a 12.3-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with wireless charging and a new infotainment system with sharp graphics and quick responses.
• Fuel efficiency: It is estimated to return 5.9 L/100 km in the city, 6.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 6.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Venza experience with the hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, wireless smartphone integration, and the full Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but the smaller 8-inch screen and simpler equipment make it the least appealing if you want a more upscale cabin.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim. It adds the 12.3-inch touchscreen, roof rails, simulated leather upholstery, front and rear parking proximity sensors, and reverse automatic emergency braking, which makes it the sweet spot for most shoppers.
• Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, with the surround-view camera system, head-up display, digital rearview mirror, and premium audio. Choose it if you want the most convenience and tech features and are willing to pay for them.

All 2023 Toyota Venzas come with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ as standard equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Venza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 77 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.05% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,494 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Venza's resale value?

The current average of $39,526 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,523 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Venza has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady if you decide to sell later. Because the model is positioned around efficiency, comfort, and style, it should continue to appeal to shoppers looking for a polished midsize SUV alternative.

For a future seller, the current price trend is a reminder that resale value is being shaped by market softness rather than scarcity. If demand stays healthy, a well-kept Venza with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than a less efficient or less distinctive rival.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Venza safe?

The 2023 Toyota Venza earns five-star ratings in overall and side crash protection, and four-star ratings in frontal and rollover protection from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated it Good across the board except for the new side impact test, where it earned Acceptable, and it was named a Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. The XLE adds front and rear parking proximity sensors and reverse automatic emergency braking, while the Limited adds a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror.

The main caveat is the IIHS side impact result, which is a step below the Venza’s otherwise strong crash-test performance.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines sharp styling, a luxury-leaning interior, and strong fuel efficiency.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $33,583 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $39,526 CAD average.
• It offers standard all-wheel drive and a hybrid powertrain with strong efficiency.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the newer used-market pricing context and the same core strengths in style, comfort, and efficiency. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2022 is the better value path.
