Is the 2023 Toyota Venza a good car?

Yes — you get a 5/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 8/10.

The 2023 Toyota Venza is a stylish, fuel-efficient midsize SUV alternative with a more upscale look than many rivals and a luxury-leaning interior. It is also comfortable, which makes it appealing if you want a relaxed daily driver with a polished feel.

The trade-offs are that it has not much cargo space and middling performance, so it suits you best if you value style, comfort, and efficiency over maximum utility or strong acceleration.

26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Toyota Venza reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Venza’s hybrid setup and calm driving character point to a vehicle built around efficiency and everyday ease rather than complexity or flash. Its performance is described as seamless and smooth, and the advanced safety features function as they should, with no false alarms reported in testing.

It also benefits from a straightforward ownership profile, with no options to add on any Venza model beyond colour choices. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that limited cargo space may make it less satisfying if your needs grow.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Venza?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE gives you the Venza’s sleek styling and standard safety suite, but the XLE adds useful upgrades like the larger touchscreen and extra safety equipment. The Limited brings the most premium equipment, so the base trim is the one where feature gaps matter most.
• Powertrain: You’re getting a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid system with electric motor/generators, a 1.6-kWh battery pack, 219 horsepower, and standard all-wheel drive. It is tuned for smooth, efficient driving rather than strong acceleration.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard, with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. The XLE adds front and rear parking proximity sensors and automatic emergency braking when you’re in reverse, while the Limited adds a surround-view camera, head-up display, and digital rearview mirror.
• Infotainment: The base LE uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while XLE and above get a 12.3-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with wireless charging, and the 2023 system adds sharper graphics and quicker responses.
• Fuel efficiency: It is estimated at 5.9 L/100 km in the city, 6.4 on the highway, and 6.1 combined.

Which 2023 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Venza’s core strengths: standard hybrid efficiency, standard all-wheel drive, wireless smartphone integration, and the full Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim. For the price jump, you get the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, roof rails, simulated leather upholstery, and a few safety enhancements, making it the sweet spot for most shoppers.
• Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, adding the surround-view camera, head-up display, and digital rearview mirror. Choose it if you want the most premium Venza experience.

All trims include Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, while the XLE and Limited add extra safety and convenience features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Venza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 90 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.41% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $39,901 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Venza's resale value?

The current average of $40,614 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,397 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays similar. The Venza’s strong efficiency and upscale appeal should help it remain desirable, especially for shoppers who want a comfortable hybrid SUV. Its limited cargo space may narrow the audience somewhat, but the model’s broad strengths should still support demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Venza safe?

The 2023 Toyota Venza earns five-star ratings in overall and side crash protection, and four-star ratings in frontal and rollover protection from NHTSA. The IIHS rated it Good across the board except for the new side impact test, where it earned Acceptable, and it was named a Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard on every trim, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. The XLE adds front and rear parking proximity sensors and automatic emergency braking in reverse, while the Limited adds a surround-view camera, head-up display, and digital rearview mirror.

The main caveat is the IIHS side-impact result, which is not as strong as the rest of the Venza’s safety performance.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines sharp styling, a luxury-leaning interior, and class-leading fuel efficiency.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $34,660 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $40,614 CAD average.
• It offers standard all-wheel drive and strong fuel efficiency.

The 2023 is the better pick if you want the more current market position and the same core strengths in style, comfort, and efficiency. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Venza’s main appeal.
