How much does the 2023 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices have softened 3.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 856 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota RAV4 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfortable ride, good fuel economy, and spacious interior, and many also call out its reliable performance and value for money. In everyday use, that lines up well with the RAV4’s practical, family-friendly character and its broad appeal to buyers who want a dependable SUV rather than something overtly sporty.

The trade-offs are familiar: performance is fairly pedestrian, and some drivers find it underpowered compared with rivals. Even so, the RAV4’s balance of usability, dependability, and updated cabin tech makes it easy to recommend if you want a sensible compact crossover. Good and great deals account for 29.2% of listings, so there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

User feedback points to a reliable, dependable SUV that many owners feel confident living with over time. The expert review also describes it as solid and dependable, with a no-drama character that suits long-term ownership. Toyota’s three-year/30,000-kilometre basic warranty and five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty add some reassurance for used buyers.

For used shoppers, the main long-term risk is less about major drama and more about accepting a vehicle that prioritises consistency over excitement.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota RAV4?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE is the entry point, while the Limited adds the most premium touches, including ventilated seats, more adjustability, and a more upscale cabin feel. The Trail sits in the middle and adds a more rugged look, but it is more style than substance.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 203 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is competent rather than quick, and the review notes that it is not especially quiet under hard acceleration.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, along with Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam LED headlights, pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. There are no trim-level gaps called out in the safety equipment.
• Infotainment: A standard 8.0-inch touchscreen includes wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, voice command, and over-the-air updates. The Limited gets a 10.5-inch screen, while the Trail does not get the upgraded multimedia system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the LE AWD at 8.7 L/100 km city, 6.9 highway, and 7.9 combined. The XLE AWD is rated at 8.8 L/100 km city, 7.1 highway, and 8.0 combined, while Trail and Limited AWD models are rated at 9.5 L/100 km city, 7.1 highway, and 8.4 combined.

Which 2023 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, XLE, Trail, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the core RAV4 formula with standard AWD, the full safety suite, and the new infotainment system. If you want the best balance of price and equipment, this is the trim to start with.
• XLE: This is the best-value upgrade if you want more comfort without jumping too far up the price ladder. It adds a heated steering wheel and dual-zone automatic climate control, while keeping the RAV4’s practical strengths intact.
• Trail: Choose this if you want the more rugged look and the middle-of-the-range positioning, but know that the review treats it as more of a style package than a true off-road model.
• Limited: This is the most premium choice, with the larger touchscreen, JBL audio, more advanced seat adjustments, memory settings, heated rear seats, and the most upscale cabin presentation.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so your trim choice is mostly about comfort, tech, and appearance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota RAV4?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers: there is inventory, but the best listings still deserve quick attention.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 856 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.92% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,450 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $34,450 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,856 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially well equipped or lightly used. At the same time, the RAV4’s broad appeal and strong reputation for reliability help support demand. If you buy well now, you may still have a solid audience when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

That gives you a broad standard safety package across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota updated the infotainment system while keeping the RAV4’s proven formula.

• It offers a roomy, flexible interior with efficient powertrains.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $37,041 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $34,450 CAD average.
• It broadens the lineup with gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options.
