Used 2023 Mazda CX-5 for Sale nearOttawa, ON

How much does the 2023 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 7.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 738 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.86/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfort, performance, and features, along with the stylish interior and high-quality finishes. The ride quality and handling also come up positively, and the heads-up display is a recurring highlight.

The trade-offs are the cramped back seat and limited cargo space, plus the infotainment interface that many find frustrating. For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a polished compact crossover that feels more premium than mainstream, especially if everyday driving enjoyment matters more than maximum practicality.

Good and great deals account for 31.4% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with comfort and quality showing up repeatedly in the praise. That kind of consistent satisfaction usually matters more than a single feature when you’re thinking about long-term ownership.

The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing the CX-5 as refined, solid, and well put together, with a driving character that feels tight and communicative. Mazda’s premium-leaning approach adds to the sense that this is built to be a vehicle you can count on over time.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about living with the cramped cabin and frustrating tech day after day.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base GX gives you the standard 187-hp engine and standard all-wheel drive, but the more expensive versions add the premium-feeling touches that make the CX-5 stand out. The 2.5 Turbo Signature is the most feature-rich choice, with the extra safety and convenience equipment that helps it feel closest to a luxury SUV.
• Powertrain: You can shop the standard 2.5-litre four-cylinder or the available 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder. The standard engine makes 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, while the turbo version delivers up to 256 hp and 320 lb-ft on premium fuel, with standard AWD and a six-speed automatic in both cases.
• Safety package: Mazda bundles most of its i-Activsense driver-assistance tech as standard equipment. The 2.5 Turbo Signature adds the surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, rear low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Jam Assist, so lower trims miss some of the most advanced convenience features.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mazda Connected Services. The system does not offer a helpful voice recognition system, and the centre-console controls can be awkward to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard engine is rated at 9.0 L/100 km combined, while the turbocharged engine is rated at 9.8 L/100 km combined. In harder driving, the turbo model can use more fuel than expected.

Which 2023 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 6 trim levels: GX, GS, Kuro, GT, 2.5 Turbo Sport Design, and 2.5 Turbo Signature.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CX-5 experience with the standard engine and AWD. It makes sense if you want the styling, safety, and driving feel at the lowest starting point, but it is the least equipped version.
• GS: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more everyday comfort and convenience without pushing you into the pricier turbo models. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the trim to focus on.
• Kuro: Choose this if you want a more distinctive appearance and a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top trims. It suits you if style matters as much as equipment.
• GT: This is the better pick if you want a more premium cabin and more of the features that make the CX-5 feel refined. It is a strong choice if you plan to keep the vehicle for a while and want a richer ownership experience.
• 2.5 Turbo Sport Design: This trim is for you if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and a more performance-oriented feel. It is the right move if driving enjoyment matters more than fuel savings.
• 2.5 Turbo Signature: This is the top choice if you want the most complete CX-5, including the extra safety and convenience features reserved for the highest trims. It is the one to buy if you want the most luxury-like version of the lineup.

The safety package is broadly standard across the lineup, but the most advanced features are reserved for the 2.5 Turbo Signature.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 738 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.85% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,235 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $30,279 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,860 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the CX-5 has moved into a more buyer-friendly phase, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if they price competitively. A model that has already absorbed some depreciation may hold appeal for shoppers who want a polished SUV without paying new-car money.

The fact that demand remains tied to its strong safety reputation and premium feel should help support resale interest. If you keep the vehicle in good condition and choose a desirable trim, you should have a better chance of standing out in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2023 Mazda CX-5 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment, along with the usual four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s i-Activsense suite is standard across most of the lineup, and it includes the brand’s core driver-assistance technology in a smooth, refined, and accurate package. The 2.5 Turbo Signature adds the surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, rear low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Jam Assist.

The main caveat is that some of the most useful convenience and parking features are reserved for the highest trim. That means you may need to move up the lineup if you want the fullest safety and assistance experience.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the CX-5 formula intact with strong safety, polished design, and no major changes beyond a premium paint option.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,861 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $30,279 CAD average.
• It feels more upscale after major updates and suits buyers wanting premium value.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $32,665 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $30,279 CAD average.
• It adds further refinement while keeping the same stylish, enjoyable character.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and polish, the 2023 is the sensible default. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the value play; if you want the newest version and can spend more, the 2024 is the cleaner upgrade path.
