Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — 4.75/5 is a strong user rating for a midsize SUV that focuses on practicality, comfort, and safety. The 2023 Highlander is positioned as a family-friendly three-row SUV with standard all-wheel drive in Canada, available gas and hybrid powertrains, and a useful cabin layout. It also comes with standard tech and driver-assistance features, which makes it a sensible fit if you want an easy-to-live-with SUV rather than something sporty. With 31.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Highlander is described as having a strong reputation for reliability and safety, which is exactly the kind of profile many used buyers want in a family SUV. Its comfort-focused setup and standard equipment also support everyday dependability. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright capability and more about whether the vehicle’s practical, comfort-first character matches your needs over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Highlander?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 220 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.02% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $43,566 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $43,762 CAD sits slightly below last year's $49,182 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Highlander more attractive to used buyers today but may also limit upside for a near-term seller. If you buy at the current average, you are entering at a lower point than last year’s market. For future resale, the model’s practical layout and strong reputation should help keep demand steady.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $41,625 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $43,762 CAD average.
• It covers family-hauling basics well with a versatile, safety-focused setup.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2023 if you want the newer model-year pricing context, strong deal availability, and the same practical, comfort-first Highlander formula. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the better value path, especially if you find one in good condition and the lower price matters more than the newer-year market position.
