Used 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid for Sale nearPembroke, ON

How much does the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid cost?

Prices have softened 9.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 56 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 5.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise the great mileage, comfortable ride, and stylish design, which line up well with its role as a practical three-row family SUV. The overview also points to a quiet cabin and standard advanced safety features, which help explain its appeal for everyday family use.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert review calls out fairly pedestrian performance and interior materials that feel cheap. It also notes that the third row is cramped, so you should not expect this to be the roomiest choice in the segment.

Overall, it makes the most sense if you want a hybrid family SUV that prioritises efficiency, comfort, and safety over excitement. With 33.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that feels reliable, comfortable, and well suited to everyday use, with drivers describing strong mileage and a generally trouble-free ownership experience. The expert review also frames it as a family-sized SUV you can count on for city and suburban driving.

Toyota’s standard safety and driver-assistance equipment adds to that dependability story, and the hybrid system is presented as a practical long-term solution for buyers who value efficiency. For used shoppers, the main ownership risk is that some examples may show the usual wear-and-tear concerns of a busy family SUV, especially if previous owners used the third row and cargo area heavily.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Hybrid LE includes standard all-wheel drive in Canada, while higher trims add more equipment and the Limited and Platinum versions bring extra convenience and safety hardware. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about premium features.
• Powertrain: The Highlander Hybrid pairs a 2.5-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine with electric motor-generators and standard AWD. It is tuned for efficiency and low-speed electric assistance rather than strong passing power.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, while Limited and Platinum trims add parking sensors with automatic braking and the Platinum adds a surround-view camera.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8.0-inch touchscreen, while the Limited gets a 12.3-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, dual-device Bluetooth pairing, HD Radio, and SiriusXM are included.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says it should average 6.7 L/100 km in combined driving, though the test vehicle returned 8.2 L/100 km on the evaluation loop.

Which 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is offered in 3 trim levels: Hybrid LE, Highlander Hybrid XLE AWD, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Hybrid LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core hybrid powertrain, standard AWD, and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it is also the trim most likely to feel basic.
• Highlander Hybrid XLE AWD: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the top trim. It is the trim to focus on if you want a balanced mix of equipment and price.
• Limited: This is the most upscale version mentioned here, and it brings the larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen plus the extra safety hardware that comes with the higher trims. Choose it if you want the most features and are willing to pay for them.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard across the lineup, while Limited and Platinum versions add parking sensors with automatic braking and the Platinum adds a surround-view camera.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards patience and comparison shopping.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 56 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.01% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $48,315 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $48,343 CAD sits slightly below last year's $53,133 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make future resale a little more challenging if you buy at the wrong point in the cycle. For a seller, it means you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially if similar listings remain plentiful.

The good news is that strong owner satisfaction can help support demand over time. Buyers looking for a quiet, efficient, family-friendly hybrid SUV may still see value in this model year.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid safe?

The 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid earns excellent overall crash-test ratings from both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, while Limited and Platinum trims add front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking and the Platinum adds a surround-view camera.

One caveat is that the system can be confused when lanes merge or split, and it can struggle on worn or partially obscured lane markings. Even so, it works well in heavier highway traffic and is easy to trust in normal use.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the review team: fresh technology, including a new 12.3-inch digital instrumentation display on upper trims and updated infotainment.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $43,528 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $48,343 CAD average.
• It focuses on efficiency and practical value.

The bottom line: If you want the newer tech and strong safety story, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you can live with a less up-to-date cabin, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly route.
