Used 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid for Sale nearMississauga, ON

How much does the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid cost?

Prices have softened 8.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 61 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid earns a 5/5 user rating and a 5.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its great mileage, comfortable ride, and stylish design. The overview also points to a quiet cabin, standard advanced safety features, and strong safety ratings as core reasons it appeals to family buyers.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, the interior materials feel cheap, and the third row is cramped. In practical terms, that means you should view it as a sensible three-row hybrid for everyday family use rather than something engaging or luxurious.

Only 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you may need to shop selectively to find the best value.

Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that feels reliable and dependable in day-to-day use, with drivers highlighting its great mileage and comfortable ride. The expert evaluation also frames it as a family-sized SUV that people can count on for city and suburban driving, with a compliant ride and quiet highway manners.

There is also a maintenance perk in the expert notes: the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the droning powertrain and modest performance may wear on you even if the mechanical package itself proves durable.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Hybrid LE gives you standard all-wheel drive in Canada, but the XLE adds more equipment, and the Limited can be paired with a Platinum package. The Limited and Platinum also gain extra parking sensors, while the Platinum adds a surround-view camera.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder hybrid system with electric motor-generators and standard AWD. It is tuned more for efficiency than urgency, and passing power is limited.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard, with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use an 8.0-inch touchscreen, while the Limited gets a 12.3-inch display. Both include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates, dual-device Bluetooth pairing, HD Radio, and SiriusXM.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says it should average 6.7 L/100 km combined, though the test vehicle returned 8.2 L/100 km on the evaluation loop.

Which 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is offered in 3 trim levels: Hybrid LE, Highlander Hybrid XLE AWD, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Hybrid LE: This is the entry point, but it still gives you standard AWD in Canada and the core safety and hybrid hardware. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and do not need the extra convenience and tech upgrades.
• Highlander Hybrid XLE AWD: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more equipment without jumping all the way to the top end. If you want a better-balanced mix of features and price, this is the one to focus on.
• Limited: This is the most upscale version mentioned here, and it brings the larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen plus the available Platinum package. It suits you if you want the most technology and the most premium-feeling setup in this lineup.

Safety content also notes that the Limited and Platinum versions gain front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and the Platinum adds a surround-view camera.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and be ready to move when you find a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 61 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.88% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $48,979 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $49,252 CAD sits slightly below last year's $54,051 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it can also mean future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you own one, the current trend points to a model that is holding value reasonably well, but not strongly appreciating. For a future seller, condition, trim, and equipment will matter more if you want to protect your asking price.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid safe?

The 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid earns excellent overall crash-test ratings from both the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and road sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, while the Limited and Platinum add front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and the Platinum adds a surround-view camera.

The main caveat is that the driver-assistance system can get confused when lanes merge or split, or when lane markings are worn or partially obscured.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds fresh technology, including a larger available infotainment display and over-the-air updates.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $42,940 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $49,252 CAD average.
• It focuses on efficiency and practical value.

The bottom line: If you want the newer tech, stronger market selection, and the current-year pricing trend, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the smarter value play, especially if you can live without the newer technology updates.
