Used 2023 Subaru Outback for Sale nearKelowna, BC

How much does the 2023 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 13.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 461 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2023 Subaru Outback a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Subaru Outback earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for shoppers who want a practical crossover with standard all-wheel drive and strong utility. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The Outback’s appeal comes from its everyday usefulness, roomy and comfortable cabin, and standard AWD, plus the added confidence of strong safety systems and ratings. The trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the potentially polarising design, while the voice recognition system is another frustration. If you want a versatile, car-like crossover with a rugged edge, it fits that brief well. The market also shows 30.4% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Outback’s safety-focused engineering and standard all-wheel drive support its reputation for dependable everyday use. Its boxer engine layout helps lower the centre of gravity, and the drivetrain is tuned for confident all-weather traction. Subaru also adds new EyeSight cameras and an electronic brake booster this year to refine how the safety features operate. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the base powertrain may feel strained if you regularly drive in traffic, at elevation, or on highways.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Subaru Outback?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model gets the 7-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add the 11.6-inch portrait screen, blacked-out Onyx Edition styling, and more upscale cabin materials. The base trim also misses several convenience and safety upgrades that appear higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-litre four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and can feel underpowered, especially for passing or mountain driving. The turbocharged XT models deliver much stronger acceleration, but they use more fuel.
• Safety package: EyeSight includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist arrive from Touring grade, and Automatic Emergency Steering is added with those features present.
• Infotainment: Most trims get the 11.6-inch touchscreen, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto starting at Touring. The base trim uses a 7-inch screen with wired smartphone integration, and wireless charging is not fitted on Convenience.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard engine is rated at 8.3 L/100 km combined in testing, while the turbocharged XT models are rated at 9.5 L/100 km combined. The Wilderness trim is rated at 10.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2023 Subaru Outback is offered in 7 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx Edition, Limited, Wilderness, Limited XT, and Premier XT.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the entry point if you want the Outback’s standard AWD, safety tech, and practical shape at the lowest price, but you give up the larger touchscreen and several convenience upgrades.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 11.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more safety equipment.
• Onyx Edition: Choose this if you want the more distinctive blacked-out look and water-resistant upholstery without moving into the turbo models.
• Limited: This is the most upscale non-turbo choice, with a more premium-feeling cabin and a strong mix of comfort and equipment.
• Wilderness: Pick this if you want the most rugged character and the most capable off-road setup in the range.
• Limited XT: This is the best choice if you want stronger acceleration and a more premium feel together.
• Premier XT: This is the top-end option if you want the most power and the most feature-rich Outback experience.

Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist are equipped from the Touring grade.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Subaru Outback?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 461 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.25% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,385 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $31,385 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,178 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays under pressure. If you plan to sell later, the strongest protection comes from keeping the vehicle in clean condition and choosing a trim that buyers actively want. Models with broader appeal and strong equipment tend to be easier to move on the used market.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2023 Subaru Outback earns top marks across the board from IIHS, including in the new, more stringent side-impact crash test.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

In the Base model, EyeSight includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist are equipped from the Outback Touring grade. With those features present, EyeSight also adds Automatic Emergency Steering, and the Premier XT offers a third Wide-Angle Mono Camera for better pedestrian and cyclist detection.

One caveat is that the rear automatic braking system can be incompatible with some driveways, and the steering feel from the adaptive cruise and lane-centring systems can be intrusive.

Should I buy a 2023 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds fresh styling, new infotainment and safety technologies, and the Onyx Edition to the Canadian line-up.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,635 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $31,385 CAD average.
• It is a more adventure-focused version of Subaru’s all-wheel-drive formula.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $34,424 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $31,385 CAD average.
• It broadens the trim range with feature-enriched versions and trim-specific aesthetic tweaks.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest mix of styling, tech, and value, the 2023 is the best all-round pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better budget path, while the 2024 makes sense if you want a broader trim spread and are willing to pay more.
