Is the 2023 Nissan Rogue a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Nissan Rogue earns a 4.31/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, safety features, fuel economy, comfortable ride, and modern technology, especially in higher trims. The Rogue is also positioned as a mainstream SUV that remains important to Nissan’s lineup, with a practical two-row layout and broad appeal for everyday use. On the trade-off side, the back seats are described as uncomfortable, and some drivers find the CVT loud and sometimes lacking power.

With 28.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Nissan Rogue reliable?

Owners rate it 4.31/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with owners highlighting the Rogue’s spacious interior, safety features, fuel economy, and comfortable ride. The expert drive notes that you can put some trust in how the Rogue will behave in a given situation, which supports the impression of a composed, confidence-inspiring SUV. Nissan’s three-year/60,000-kilometre basic warranty and five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty are also part of the ownership picture.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the CVT and three-cylinder powertrain may not feel as refined or strong under harder use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Rogue?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes S, SV, SL, and Platinum trim levels, and the SV can be had with a Midnight Edition package that blacks out the exterior trim. The base S is the key feature-gap trim, since all-wheel drive is standard on all but the base trim in Canada.
• Powertrain: The Rogue uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder VC-Turbo engine with a CVT. It is responsive in urban and suburban driving, but it lacks passing power on the highway and can feel less refined to some drivers.
• Safety package: Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, rear automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims can add ProPilot Assist with Navi-link, plus surround-view camera, active blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and a driver monitoring system.
• Infotainment: The Rogue uses an 8-inch or available 9-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay is available, Android Auto is wired, and NissanConnect services can add Wi-Fi hotspot access. Higher-spec vehicles can also bring a wireless charging pad, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, and a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the test vehicle should have returned 7.7 L/100 km in combined driving, and it averaged 8.1 L/100 km on the evaluation loop.

Which 2023 Nissan Rogue trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Rogue is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it is also the trim where you give up the most, including standard AWD in Canada. It makes sense if you want the Rogue’s core space and safety story at the lowest possible price.
• SV: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds more everyday flexibility and is the trim that can get the Midnight Edition package for a darker look.
• SL: Move here if you want a more upscale feel and more available technology without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the most upscale Rogue experience, including the richest cabin presentation and the longest list of available equipment.

Higher trim levels can also add ProPilot Assist with Navi-link, so if driver-assistance tech matters to you, shop above the base trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Rogue?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,659 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.81% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,747 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Rogue's resale value?

The current average of $26,747 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,396 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Rogue is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago, which can make future resale planning a little more cautious for owners. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry point, but a seller later may need to compete with a market that has already moved down. The Rogue’s broad appeal and strong inventory can help support demand, but value retention will still depend on trim, condition, and equipment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.31/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Rogue safe?

The 2023 Nissan Rogue earns a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, though it gets four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in a frontal-impact collision.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Safety Shield 360 is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, rear automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. You can also get a surround-view camera, active blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and a driver monitoring system. ProPilot Assist with Navi-link is available on higher trim levels and combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assistance.

One caveat is that updated IIHS testing found the Rogue falters in the small overlap frontal-impact test and side-impact test, earning Marginal and Acceptable scores, respectively.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.81% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.31/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds a Midnight Edition package for the SV trim and keeps the Rogue’s strong safety and comfort focus.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $23,013 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $26,747 CAD average.
• It brings the updated turbocharged powertrain and a broad trim spread.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,611 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $26,747 CAD average.
• It adds refreshed styling and Google built-in apps.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and broad inventory, the 2023 is the sensible pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2022 is the value route; if you want newer tech, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
