Why it stands out
The 2023 Nissan Murano stands out as a comfort-first midsize SUV with a distinctly upscale feel for the class. By this point in the third generation, it had already moved away from the Murano’s earlier sportier character and leaned into a smoother, more relaxed personality. It was also one of the more affordable Japanese SUVs for much of its run, though the cabin was not as refined as some rivals inside. For buyers, that made it appealing as a stylish, easygoing family SUV that offered a good amount of equipment without chasing outright sportiness.
What helps the 2023 Nissan Murano remain distinctive is the way it balances everyday usability with a few premium touches. The third generation brought a 3.5-litre V6 with 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque, and the CVT was described as better than many others, even if it still lagged behind traditional automatic transmissions. It could reach 100 km/h in roughly 7.5 seconds, which was quick for the class. The Murano also offered a well-equipped range, with features such as a panoramic sunroof, leather seating, a Bose premium audio system, adaptive cruise control, and available safety technology including pedestrian detection and lane-keep assist.
There are trade-offs, though. The Murano prioritised comfort over sporty handling, and while that suited its mission, it was not especially engaging to drive. Cargo space was also not a strong point for the class, and real-world fuel economy could be harder to match than the estimates suggested. Even so, the 2023 Nissan Murano remained attractive for shoppers who wanted a comfortable, distinctive crossover with a premium-leaning feel and a long list of available features.

It has great features I personally don't like the screen on top of the dash. I prefer the 2020 model with the screen in the dash not on it. Other than that no complaints about the features.

Superrior vehicle. I made the buy decision via an SV trim I rented from Enterprise, based on the safety features and ride I purchased a 23 Platinum trim and it is technology super, plus augmented the SV safety features. Excellent option and its one of the few V6s in the midsized SUV category

Is the 2023 Nissan Murano a good car?
Yes — the 4.75/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2023 Nissan Murano is a comfort-first midsize SUV with a distinctly upscale feel for the class, and it suits you well if you want a stylish, easygoing family SUV with a good amount of equipment rather than something tuned for sporty handling. Its appeal is strongest if you value a relaxed ride, premium-leaning features, and everyday usability. The market also shows 33.1% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Nissan Murano reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2023 Nissan Murano’s overview points to a model that prioritises comfort, smooth road manners, and a well-equipped cabin, all of which can support a positive ownership experience. Its CVT is described as better than many others, even if it still does not match a traditional automatic transmission for feel. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that comfort-focused design does not eliminate the need to watch for wear items and drivability concerns as mileage builds.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Murano?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.
- Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 136 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.38% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $30,338 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Nissan Murano's resale value?
The current average of $31,182 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,954 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favourable for buyers, which can make future resale gains harder to count on in the short term. Even so, a model that remains distinctive and well equipped can still hold attention if it is presented well and priced realistically. For you as a future seller, that means condition, mileage, and maintenance history will matter a lot when it is time to list.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Murano or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.38% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want a comfortable, distinctive midsize SUV with a premium-leaning feel and you value a relaxed driving character, the 2023 Murano is the right direction to focus on. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby model year with a lower asking price may be the better path, especially if you can find one in strong condition and within the lower end of the market range.
