Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

It stands out as a midsize luxury SUV that blends prestige, performance, and practicality, with a high-quality cabin and top-rate technology. The expert review also highlights its polished road manners and versatility for everyday use.

Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The GLE is presented as a polished, well-built luxury SUV with a cabin that feels robust and comfortable, and the expert review describes it as quiet and composed in daily driving. Its powertrain and transmission behaviour are also described positively, with seamless operation and strong overall performance.

The plug-in hybrid version is especially appealing if you want to reduce fuel use on short trips, and the model’s comfort and refinement support confidence in day-to-day ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that luxury features and higher-spec versions can bring higher running costs if maintenance or repairs are needed.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin quality is a major strength, but the base model may leave you wanting more of the upscale equipment and visual polish that define the GLE.
• Powertrain: The range includes turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines, and the plug-in hybrid version pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor and a 23.3-kWh battery pack.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection, hands-free park assist, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high-beam headlights, and a driver attention monitor.
• Infotainment: You get a pair of 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and an improved voice-command system.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is rated at 4.1 litres-equivalent per 100 kilometres in hybrid mode, with 10.5 city/9.1 highway/9.9 combined figures and an estimated 77-kilometre electric range.

Which 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE is offered in 5 trim levels: GLE 350 4Matic, GLE 450 4Matic, AMG GLE 53 4Matic+, GLE 450e 4Matic, and GLE 450e PHEV.

Here's the short version:

• GLE 350 4Matic: This is the value-minded choice if you want the GLE experience at the lowest entry point, with the 255-hp turbo four-cylinder and standard all-wheel drive.
• GLE 450 4Matic: This is the better all-round pick if you want more power and a broader luxury-SUV feel without jumping to the pricier AMG models.
• AMG GLE 53 4Matic+: Choose this if you want the most performance-focused version in the range, but be ready for higher running costs.
• GLE 450e 4Matic: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it combines strong performance, quiet operation, and better fuel economy in everyday use.
• GLE 450e PHEV: If you want the plug-in hybrid setup specifically, this is the trim to focus on for short-trip efficiency and easy daily drivability.

The safety package is comprehensive, with several advanced driver-assistance features available beyond the standard equipment.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 264 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.46% compared with last year.

What is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE's resale value?

The current average of $68,171 CAD sits slightly below last year's $79,699 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you buy now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays competitive. For a seller, the current trend suggests you may need to price carefully to stand out, especially if your vehicle has higher mileage or fewer desirable options.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 update brings a refreshed infotainment system and a new plug-in hybrid option.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $58,555 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $68,171 CAD average.
• It is a style-led SUV coupe that successfully translates the coupe formula into a practical package.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-market value, updated tech, and broad appeal, the 2023 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front and you like the earlier coupe-focused character, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path.
