Used 2023 Mazda CX-5 for Sale nearRichmond, BC

How much does the 2023 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 8.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 784 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, performance, stylish interior, high-quality finishes, and user-friendly heads-up display. The ride quality and handling also draw positive feedback, which fits the CX-5’s more engaging driving character.

The trade-offs are just as clear: the back seat is cramped, cargo space is limited, and the infotainment interface is frustrating to use. For you, that means the CX-5 makes the most sense if you value a polished feel and enjoyable driving dynamics more than maximum practicality.

With 27.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, dependable, and easy to live with over time. The review summary also highlights strong performance and features, along with a stylish interior and quality finishes that tend to support confidence in daily use.

From an expert perspective, the CX-5 is described as refined and solid, with a tight, well-controlled feel that suggests careful engineering. Mazda also positions it as a premium-leaning model, which can be a good sign for durability-minded shoppers who want a more substantial-feeling SUV.

If you are buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is not mechanical drama so much as living with its less practical cabin and frustrating infotainment setup.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CX-5 lineup spans six versions, and the base GX is the one most likely to leave you wanting more. Higher trims add more upscale materials and features, while the top 2.5 Turbo Signature gets the most equipment, including the surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, rear low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-litre four-cylinder makes 187 hp and is paired with a six-speed automatic and standard AWD. The available 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder is the stronger choice if you want more punch, with up to 256 hp on premium fuel.
• Safety package: Mazda’s i-Activsense suite is standard on most versions and operates in a smooth, refined, and accurate manner. The most expensive trims add the surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, rear low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mazda Connected Services. The system does not offer a helpful voice recognition system, and its centre-console controls take time to learn.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard engine is rated at 9.0 L/100 km in combined driving, while the turbo engine is rated at 9.8 L/100 km in combined driving.

Which 2023 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 6 trim levels: GX, GS, Kuro, GT, 2.5 Turbo Sport Design, 2.5 Turbo Signature.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CX-5 experience with the standard engine and AWD. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it is also the trim most likely to feel sparse compared with the rest of the lineup.
• GS: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more everyday comfort and convenience without pushing you into the pricier turbo models. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the trim to focus on.
• Kuro: This trim is for you if style matters and you want a more distinctive look without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It builds on the mid-range formula with a more upscale presentation.
• GT: This is the better pick if you want a more premium-feeling CX-5 with a richer feature set and a stronger overall sense of polish. It suits shoppers who plan to keep the vehicle longer and want a more complete package.
• 2.5 Turbo Sport Design: Choose this if you want the turbocharged engine and stronger performance. It is the right move if driving enjoyment matters more to you than keeping the purchase price down.
• 2.5 Turbo Signature: This is the most fully equipped version, and it is the one to buy if you want the most advanced safety and convenience features, including the surround-view camera system, parking sensors, rear low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Jam Assist.

The safety package is standard across most of the lineup, but the most expensive trims get the extra driver-assistance and parking features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda CX-5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some confidence if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 784 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.09% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,786 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $29,786 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,409 CAD.

That price movement suggests the CX-5 has already absorbed some of its recent depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. Because the current average is still within a relatively tight year-round range, you are not looking at a model that has been swinging wildly in value.

For a future seller, that usually means the CX-5 should remain reasonably predictable to price and list. Its premium-leaning image and strong safety reputation can help support demand, especially among shoppers who want a more upscale compact SUV without moving into luxury-brand territory.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The Mazda CX-5 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment, along with a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda bundles most of its i-Activsense driver-assistance technology as standard equipment, and the system is described as smooth, refined, and accurate. Standard features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and E911 automatic collision notification.

The most expensive trims add the surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, rear low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Jam Assist. One caveat is that the CX-5’s headlights can be easy to leave off at night because the running lights and interior illumination make it hard to notice.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Mazda made only a minor update this year, so you are getting a proven carryover model.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,669 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $29,786 CAD average.
• It feels more upscale after a round of premium-leaning updates.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $32,230 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $29,786 CAD average.
• It adds further refinement while keeping the CX-5’s polished, enjoyable character.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and current-market availability, the 2023 is the sensible default. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the value play; if you want the newest and most refined version, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
