Used 2023 Mazda CX-5 for Sale nearBarrie, ON

How much does the 2023 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 8.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 689 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.86/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, performance, stylish interior, high-quality finishes, user-friendly heads-up display, ride quality, and handling. Those strengths fit especially well if you want a compact crossover that feels more polished and engaging than many rivals.

The trade-offs are clear: the back seat is cramped, cargo space is limited, and the infotainment interface is frustrating to use. Even so, it remains a strong fit if you value design, driving enjoyment, and cabin quality more than maximum practicality.

Good and great deals account for 27.0% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free feel, with many drivers describing the CX-5 as a vehicle they can count on over time. That kind of praise matters if you want a used SUV that has already built a positive ownership reputation.

The CX-5’s refined performance and solid engineering support that impression, with the model described as tight, solid, and rewarding to drive. Mazda also positions it with premium-leaning quality and attention to detail, which can be encouraging for long-term ownership confidence.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright durability and more about living with its compromises over time, especially if you need easy-to-use tech or maximum space.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CX-5 is offered in six versions, and the biggest gap is between the standard lineup and the 2.5 Turbo Signature. Base versions still deliver the model’s stylish, high-quality feel, but the top trim adds features such as a surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, rear low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Powertrain: You can choose between the standard 187-hp 2.5-litre four-cylinder and the available 256-hp turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder. The standard engine returns 9.0 L/100 km in combined driving, while the turbo is rated at 9.8 L/100 km.
• Safety package: Mazda bundles its driver-assistance tech under the i-Activsense banner. Standard equipment is broad, while the 2.5 Turbo Signature adds the surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, rear low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: The CX-5 uses a 10.25-inch display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mazda Connected Services. It does not have a helpful voice recognition system, and the centre-console controls take time to learn.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard engine is rated at 9.0 L/100 km combined, while the turbocharged engine is rated at 9.8 L/100 km combined. In harder driving, the turbo version can use more fuel than expected.

Which 2023 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 6 trim levels: GX, GT, 2.5 Turbo Sport Design, 2.5 Turbo Signature, and the remaining two versions are part of the standard lineup described in the model information.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point if you want the CX-5’s core strengths at the lowest price. It gets the standard 187-hp engine, all-wheel drive, and the model’s polished driving feel, but it is the trim most likely to leave you wanting more equipment.
• GT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits in the heart of the lineup and balances features, comfort, and price more effectively than the top turbo trims.
• 2.5 Turbo Sport Design: Choose this if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and a more powerful, more rewarding driving experience without going all the way to the most expensive version.
• 2.5 Turbo Signature: This is the most feature-rich choice, adding the surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, rear low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Jam Assist. It suits you best if you want the most complete CX-5 and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is broadly standard across the lineup, but the most advanced features are reserved for the 2.5 Turbo Signature.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 689 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.60% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,272 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $30,272 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,121 CAD.

That price movement suggests the CX-5 has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier to attract interest if you later decide to sell. A softer market today can also mean your purchase price is more favourable than it was a year ago.

For future resale, the key question is whether the model’s strong reputation holds up against newer alternatives. If shoppers continue to value its styling, safety, and premium feel, demand should remain steady enough to support resale.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2023 Mazda CX-5 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and five-star ratings in every NHTSA assessment, along with a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda bundles its safety tech under the i-Activsense banner, and most of it is standard equipment. The suite includes features such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic collision notification through E911.

The main caveat is that some of the most advanced features are limited to the 2.5 Turbo Signature, including the surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, rear low-speed automatic emergency braking, and Traffic Jam Assist. Even so, the CX-5’s crash-test results and standard safety coverage are major strengths.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds only a Rhodium White premium paint update, so you are getting the latest version of this generation without major changes.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,209 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $30,272 CAD average.
• It offers a more premium feel and stronger emphasis on design and engineering.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $32,709 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $30,272 CAD average.
• It feels better refined and more polished for everyday use.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and proven strengths, the 2023 is the sensible pick. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2022 is the value play; if you want the newest refinement and can spend more, the 2024 is worth a look.
