Used 2020 Mazda CX-5 for Sale nearBarrie, ON

How much does the 2020 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 10.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 421 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable interior, smooth and quiet ride, and ample highway power. They also value the luxurious feel and the safety features, which fit the CX-5’s more premium positioning.

The main trade-offs are limited cargo space and rear legroom, along with some wish for more engine power. That lines up with the CX-5’s role as a refined compact SUV for you if you care more about style, comfort, and driving enjoyment than maximum utility.

With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable and trouble-free over time, with many drivers saying they’d count on it for daily use. The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing Mazda’s engineering and quality as a cut above what mainstream competitors offer.

Mazda’s approach to value also helps here: the brand has held the line on base pricing while adding more upscale content, which can make ownership feel more rewarding. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about whether the CX-5’s smaller cargo area and rear seat space will still suit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX, GS, GT, GT Turbo, and Signature trims build on one another with clear equipment differences. The GX starts with the basics, while the GS adds more driver-assistance features. The GT brings more premium tech and comfort, and Signature is the most luxurious version with the richest cabin materials. If you want the best value, the GS and GT are the trims to compare most closely.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-litre four-cylinder makes 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic. GT Turbo and Signature use a turbocharged version that makes 250 hp and 320 lb-ft on premium fuel, or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft on regular fuel. The turbo model is more powerful but less efficient.
• Safety package: Mazda’s standard safety suite includes smart city brake support, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. GS adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist. Adaptive headlights are standard on Grand Touring trim.
• Infotainment: GX gets a 7-inch touchscreen, but touch input only works when the vehicle isn’t moving. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and GT Turbo adds an 8-inch colour touchscreen. Signature adds a surround-view camera system.
• Fuel efficiency: The naturally aspirated engine with AWD is rated at 9.3 L/100 km combined, while the FWD version is rated at 8.8 L/100 km combined. The turbocharged version is rated at 9.8 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 5 trim levels: GX, GS, GT, GT Turbo, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the CX-5’s core style and standard safety equipment without the extra luxury touches. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you’ll miss some of the more appealing convenience and driver-assistance upgrades.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds important safety technology, including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist. If you want a balanced used CX-5, this is the one to focus on first.
• GT: This trim adds a more premium feel with SiriusXM, a Bose premium sound system, and navigation. It’s a strong middle ground if you want more comfort and tech without stepping all the way up to the turbo models.
• GT Turbo: Choose this if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and the extra performance that comes with it. It also adds the 8-inch touchscreen, but you should expect higher fuel use than the non-turbo trims.
• Signature: This is the most upscale version, with premium Nappa leather, real wood, a black headliner, and a surround-view camera system. It suits you best if you want the most luxurious CX-5 experience.

Adaptive headlights come standard with Grand Touring trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Mazda CX-5?

The market looks moderately favourable if you’re a selective buyer.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 421 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.86% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,957 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $22,957 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,756 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the CX-5 is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly, which can matter if you plan to trade in or sell soon. For a future seller, the upside is that a well-kept CX-5 may still attract attention because it offers a premium feel and strong owner satisfaction.

If the market stays competitive, resale values may remain under some pressure in the near term. Even so, vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda makes smart city brake support, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert standard. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist are added at the GS trim, while adaptive headlights come standard with Grand Touring trim.

That means you get a strong safety foundation even in lower trims, but the GS is the point where the driver-assistance package becomes much more complete.

Should I buy a 2020 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year keeps the premium interior feel, strong safety reputation, and upscale positioning that define the CX-5.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,422 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,957 CAD average.
• It brings enhanced technology and a more modern infotainment setup.

The 2020 is the better pick if you want the stronger value proposition and are comfortable with its older tech. If you’re willing to pay more for updated technology, the 2021 is the better path. For most price-sensitive buyers, the 2020 remains the smarter buy.
