CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Honda Passport

Summary
With 78 currently listed for sale and an average price of $41,057 CAD, 30.8% of 2023 Honda Passport listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Honda Passport 5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Honda Passport stands out as a practical two-row midsize SUV with a strong mix of space, comfort, and capability. It was part of the third-generation Passport, which was revived in 2019 as an all-new model designed in the United States and built in Alabama alongside the Pilot. For buyers who want more room and usefulness than a compact crossover without moving up to a three-row SUV, the Passport’s five-seat layout, generous cargo area, and comfortable ride make it an appealing choice.
For 2023, the Passport carried over the refreshed third-generation formula that added updated styling and improved standard equipment. It came with a 3.5-litre V6, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and Honda’s i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system in Canada. Standard equipment was generous, including heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power moonroof, and Honda Sensing safety features. Cargo space was another strength, with 1,430 litres behind the second row and 2,852 litres with the rear seats folded, while the available TrailSport trim gave the Passport a more adventurous image.
The Passport is not perfect, though. Its fuel economy trails some competitors, and the infotainment system was considered dated compared with rivals’ larger displays. Still, the 2023 Honda Passport’s combination of strong V6 power, roomy interior packaging, and a comfortable, refined ride gives it broad appeal for shoppers who value everyday usability with a bit of extra capability.

How much does the 2023 Honda Passport cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $41,036 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $40,916 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $46,293 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $46,315 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.40% |
Prices have softened 11.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 75 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2023 Honda Passport a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Honda Passport earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, comfortable seating, powerful performance, ample cargo space, and smooth ride. It fits especially well if you want a practical two-row SUV with room for people and gear, plus everyday comfort and capability. With 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Honda Passport reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting comfort, space, and strong performance over time. That kind of response usually suggests the Passport is a vehicle you can count on for regular use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about whether the vehicle’s condition and maintenance history match its strong reputation.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Passport?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.
- Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 75 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.40% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $40,916 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Honda Passport's resale value?
The current average of $41,036 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,315 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Passport has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than a year ago. If you buy now, you may be entering at a more favourable point than recent owners did. The Passport’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it is time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Honda Passport or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.40% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $37,920 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $41,036 CAD average.
- It adds a tougher look and the first TrailSport trim.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $45,666 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $41,036 CAD average.
- It keeps the simple, practical formula with refreshed tech and capability.
The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around choice if you want the strongest mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current market pricing. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2022 is the better secondary path. If you want the newer model-year feel and are willing to pay more, the 2024 is worth a look.
