Why it stands out
The 2023 Honda Passport stands out as a practical two-row midsize SUV with a strong V6 powertrain, standard all-wheel drive in Canada, and a reputation for comfort and everyday usability. It was designed in the United States and built at Honda’s Alabama plant alongside the Pilot, and its shorter body gives it a sportier profile, better departure angles, and slightly more ground clearance than the Pilot. For buyers who want space and capability without moving up to a three-row SUV, the Passport’s generous cargo room and five-passenger layout are major draws.
This model year also benefits from Honda’s 2022 refresh, which brought new styling from the windshield forward and introduced the TrailSport trim. In 2023, the TrailSport was still primarily an appearance package, with orange stitching accents, unique badging, and 18-inch wheels with rugged-style all-season tyres. Standard equipment remained generous, including heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tri-zone automatic climate control, a power moonroof, and Honda Sensing safety features. Cargo space was another strength, with 1,430 litres behind the second row and 2,852 litres with the rear seats folded.
There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. The Passport’s infotainment system was considered dated, the 8-inch touchscreen felt small compared with competitors’ larger displays, and there was no hybrid option. Even so, the 2023 Honda Passport appeals to shoppers who value a comfortable ride, strong V6 power, and a roomy interior more than the latest tech gimmicks.

This vehicle is fast! Our Accord touring model was totaled by a girl texting and driving and my wifes lucky to be alive that Accord saved her so our loyalty is to Honda. We couldnt stomach the new Accords engine so we opted for the good old 3.5 bullet proof V6 in the Passport the HPD trim. Its really quick has endless storage space rides higher up than you think and handles all types of weather like a champ. I really have no complaints whatsoever.

Is the 2023 Honda Passport a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Honda Passport earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, comfortable seating, and powerful performance, and many also like the ample cargo space and smooth ride. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a practical two-row SUV with room for passengers and gear, especially if comfort and everyday usability matter more than the latest tech gimmicks. With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some attractive value in the market.
Is the 2023 Honda Passport reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting a trouble-free feel, strong everyday usability, and a vehicle they can count on. For used buyers, that suggests the main long-term risk is less about core satisfaction and more about finding a well-kept example with maintenance history that matches its age and mileage.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Passport?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 85 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.82% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $40,917 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Honda Passport's resale value?
The current average of $42,009 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,104 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Passport has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If the market continues to value its comfort, cargo space, and strong owner satisfaction, resale should remain supported relative to less popular alternatives. The current pricing also gives you a clearer benchmark for judging whether a used example is fairly positioned for eventual resale.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Honda Passport or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.82% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $38,597 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $42,009 CAD average.
- It adds a tougher look and the first TrailSport nameplate.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $45,747 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $42,009 CAD average.
- It keeps the formula simple with proven tech and added versatility.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and current-market value, the 2023 is the primary path to consider. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the smarter alternative, while the 2024 makes sense only if you want to pay more for the newer model year.
