Used 2023 Ford Escape for Sale nearSt Catharines, ON

How much does the 2023 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 10.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 580 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 7.17/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its performance, interior comfort, and modern features, and they also highlight its spaciousness, smooth handling, and commendable fuel efficiency. That lines up well with the Escape’s appeal if you want an upscale look and a tech-forward approach in a compact crossover.

The trade-offs are clear, though: it can feel a bit cramped, and the interior materials can feel cheap. It also sits on the higher end of the segment on price, so value may depend on how much you care about its equipment and presentation.

With 33.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable and appreciate that it feels trouble-free in day-to-day use, with praise centred on its long-term comfort and practicality. The expert assessment also points to a vehicle that feels well suited to regular ownership, with predictable behaviour and a composed driving character.

Ford’s ownership experience is helped by the fact that the Escape includes a broad safety and technology package, which can reduce day-to-day stress. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the cabin quality and higher running costs fit your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Escape?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The trim ladder starts with Active and moves up through ST-Line, ST-Line Select, Platinum, and ST-Line Elite. The higher trims bring a more upscale look, with the top model adding 19-inch wheels, body-colour mirror caps, and wheel-arch cladding for a sleeker appearance. The base trim is the most stripped-back version, so check carefully for the equipment you want before you buy.
• Powertrain: You can get a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, or a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The stronger engine is reserved for the higher trims and is paired exclusively with AWD.
• Safety package: Every Escape comes with Co-Pilot360, which includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. Co-Pilot360 2.0 adds adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, lane-centring technology, and a surround-view camera.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use an 8-inch touchscreen, while all trims can be equipped with a 13.2-inch screen, which is standard on Platinum and ST-Line Elite. Sync 4 supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a wi-fi hotspot with subscription.
• Fuel efficiency: The ST-Line Elite is rated at 10.2 L/100 km in the city, 7.6 on the highway, and 9.1 combined. A 1.5-litre FWD version returns 8.9 L/100 km city, 6.9 highway, and 8.0 combined.

Which 2023 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2023 Ford Escape is offered in 5 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, Platinum, and ST-Line Elite.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Escape’s core design, standard Co-Pilot360 safety tech, and the lowest starting price. It is the trim to consider if you care most about value and can live without the richer cabin and larger screen found higher up.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a sportier look without jumping all the way to the pricier powertrain and luxury-focused trims. It suits you if you want the Escape’s style and tech without stretching too far on budget.
• ST-Line Select: This is the trim to target if you want the 2.0-litre engine, since it unlocks the stronger powertrain and AWD. It is the right pick if passing power matters more to you than keeping the purchase price down.
• Platinum: This trim leans into a more upscale feel and gets the larger 13.2-inch screen as standard. It makes sense if you want a more premium cabin experience without going all the way to the top trim.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the most fully equipped version, with the 13.2-inch screen standard and the strongest engine. Choose it if you want the most features and the most power, but it is also the priciest option.

Co-Pilot360 is standard across the line, while Co-Pilot360 2.0 is the more advanced safety package available on higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Escape?

The market looks moderate, so you can shop selectively rather than rushing into the first listing you see.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 580 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,490 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $26,595 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,564 CAD.

That decline suggests the Escape is currently in a softer pricing environment, which can be good news if you are buying now but less ideal if you plan to sell soon. A lower current average can also mean future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If the market stays soft, resale values may remain under pressure unless demand strengthens.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape safe?

The 2023 Ford Escape earns five-star ratings in frontal- and side-crash tests, and four-star ratings in the rollover test from NHTSA. It did not earn a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ designation from IIHS because of a Marginal result in the updated side-impact test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s standard Co-Pilot360 suite includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. Higher trims can add Co-Pilot360 2.0, which brings adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, lane-centring technology, and a surround-view camera.

The main safety caveat is that IIHS side-impact result, so if crash-test performance is a top priority, you should pay close attention to that detail when comparing alternatives.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong tech with an available powerful engine upgrade.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,330 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $26,595 CAD average.
• It carries on without major changes after the 2023 refresh.

The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2023 is the smarter buy because it offers the same core strengths at a lower average price. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year and do not mind the lack of major changes, the 2024 is the simpler alternative.
