How much does the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 10.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,519 listings available, which suggests you should have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Generally — 4.36/5 from owners and 8.67/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners repeatedly praise its fuel economy, power, comfort, and features, and they also highlight its strong performance, great mileage, and useful equipment. The Silverado 1500 is especially appealing if you want a full-size pickup that mixes work-truck capability with everyday usability and a spacious cabin.

The trade-offs are a rough ride compared with rivals and steering that can feel numb at times. It also suits buyers who want broad capability and versatility more than outright refinement.

With 32.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.36/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, trouble-free, and easy to count on over the long term. That matters if you want a used full-size pickup that should be able to handle regular commuting, hauling, and job-site duty without feeling fragile.

The powertrain is described as refined and seldom struggling to find the correct gear, which supports confidence in day-to-day use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that higher-mileage trucks may show wear more quickly if they’ve spent their lives towing, hauling, or off-roading.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The WT and Custom use the older interior layout with a smaller screen and more hard controls, while the other trims get a more modern, high-tech dash design centred around a large touchscreen. The WT is the most basic, with vinyl upholstery, bench front seating, rubberised flooring, an analog instrument panel, and a 7-inch touchscreen, so you should check whether those feature gaps fit your needs.
• Powertrain: You can choose a turbocharged 2.7-litre four-cylinder, 5.3-litre V8, 6.2-litre V8, or Duramax turbodiesel six-cylinder. The turbo-four is smooth enough and delivers good pickup, while the larger V8s are energetic and the 10-speed automatic is refined on the higher-output engines.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane keep assist, lane-departure warning, and Teen Driver. LTZ adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a surround-view 360-degree camera system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and front and rear parking sensors.
• Infotainment: WT and Custom use a 7-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while every other trim gets a 13.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto plus a fully digital instrument panel. The Custom adds a Wi-Fi hot spot.
• Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version is the turbodiesel inline-six with RWD at 10.0 L/100 km city, 8.1 highway, and 9.2 combined. The gasoline turbo-four with 4WD returns 12.9 city, 11.5 highway, and 12.2 combined, while the least-efficient version is the ZR2 with the 6.2-litre V8 at 16.7 city, 14.0 highway, and 15.5 combined.

Which 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 9 trim levels: WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, High Country, and ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• WT: This is the work-focused entry point, with vinyl upholstery, bench front seating, rubberised flooring, a 7-inch touchscreen, and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the lowest-frills Silverado and can live without the newer cabin layout.
• Custom: This is the better-value step up because it adds cloth upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 20-inch alloy wheels, a power-locking tailgate, remote start, and two more USB ports. It gives you a much more usable everyday setup without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Custom Trail Boss: This is the off-road-oriented choice if you want standard 4WD with a two-speed transfer case, skid plates, and upgraded shock absorbers. It suits buyers who want trail hardware without moving into the more expensive upper trims.
• LT: This is where the more modern cabin really starts, with the 13.4-inch touchscreen, fully digital instrument panel, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated steering wheel, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, chrome bumpers, and LED in-bed lighting. It is the trim that best balances equipment and everyday comfort.
• RST: This trim adds 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, and unique visual touches, so it is mainly for buyers who want a sportier appearance.
• LT Trail Boss: This is the more capable Trail Boss choice if you want the off-road hardware paired with a higher trim starting point.
• LTZ: This is probably the best-value comfort trim because it adds leather upholstery, a power-operated tailgate, two additional USB ports, wireless device charging, and a power-adjustable front passenger seat. It also brings the key safety upgrades, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a surround-view camera system, rain-sensing wipers, and front and rear parking sensors.
• High Country: This is the luxury-oriented trim, with features such as a power-sliding rear window and heated and ventilated front seats.
• ZR2: This is the most aggressive off-road model, and for 2023 the ZR2 Bison adds heavy-duty skid plates, steel-stamped bumpers, and more aggressive approach and departure angles.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,519 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $46,468 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $46,619 CAD sits slightly below last year's $52,132 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in more affordably now, but it also means future resale values may face some pressure if the market stays well supplied. If you plan to sell later, the current trend suggests you should expect a more competitive used-truck market rather than a rising one.

Strong owner satisfaction can still help support demand when it’s time to move on. Trucks with the right mix of capability, comfort, and features tend to stay appealing to used buyers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.36/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 safe?

The Silverado 1500 earns five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, and the IIHS gives it fairly high scores in crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane keep assist, lane-departure warning, and Teen Driver. Moving up to LTZ adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a surround-view 360-degree camera system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and front and rear parking sensors. Available tech includes adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, a rear-camera mirror, and Super Cruise hands-free highway driving.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.36/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds Duramax diesel power upgrades and the new ZR2 Bison off-road configuration.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $51,663 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $46,619 CAD average.
• It adds the most bed tie-downs in the class.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the better pick if you want a lower entry price, strong owner satisfaction, and a broad mix of trims and capability. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2023 makes more sense; if you want the newer model-year packaging and don’t mind paying more, the 2024 is the alternative to compare.
