How much does the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado cost?

Prices have softened 5.73% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 236 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado a good car?

It’s a strong fit if you want a modern midsize truck with a clear off-road lean, but you should weigh its compromises carefully. The user rating is 3/5, and the expert rating is 6.5/10.

The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Chevrolet gives you modern instrumentation, infotainment, connectivity, and safety technology even in the base Work Truck trim, and the truck is described as good-looking and robustly engineered. It also offers impressive payload and towing capacity for buyers who want a capable work-and-weekend pickup.

The trade-offs are the aggravating forward collision warning system and the cheap-feeling interior materials. That makes it best suited to you if you value capability, tech, and off-road focus more than cabin polish.

With 29.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s meaningful value in the market if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?

The 2023 Colorado is built around a modern turbocharged four-cylinder setup and a thoroughly updated platform, which gives it a solid mechanical foundation. Chevrolet also says the truck is robustly engineered, and the expert review highlights strong capability and a well-developed technology package.

The powertrain is described as delivering plenty of power, and the truck’s structure feels rigid and composed on the road. That said, the fuel economy is disappointing, and the forward collision warning system is a recurring annoyance.

If you’re buying used, the biggest long-term ownership risk is that the safety-system behaviour could remain frustrating enough to affect day-to-day satisfaction.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Chevrolet Colorado?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The WT is the only rear-wheel-drive trim in Canada, and it lacks the purposeful front skid plate found on the Trail Boss. Other trims add more body-colour treatment and nicer cabins, so you should pay close attention to how much equipment you’re giving up at the lower end.
• Powertrain: Every model uses a turbocharged 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic. WT and LT versions make 237 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while Trail Boss and Z71 models step up to 310 horsepower and 391 lb-ft; ZR2 models use a high-output version with 430 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with active steering assist, rear cross-traffic and pedestrian alert with automatic braking, and rear parking sensors are optional.
• Infotainment: Every Colorado gets digital instrumentation and an 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, OnStar, Chevrolet connected services, and a Wi-Fi hotspot are also included.
• Fuel efficiency: The Trail Boss is rated at 12.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined, and testing returned 13.8 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 5 trim levels: WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• WT: This is the entry point, but it still gets the modern digital instrumentation and 11.3-inch touchscreen. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Colorado and can live without the extra off-road hardware and nicer cabin touches found higher up.
• LT: This is the best-value trim if you want a more balanced daily driver. It adds a more polished feel than the WT while keeping the Colorado’s core tech and capability intact.
• Trail Boss: This is the trim to choose if you want the Colorado’s off-road character without jumping all the way to the most extreme version. It adds a suspension lift, all-terrain tyres, and hill descent control.
• Z71: This trim builds on the off-road theme with more power than WT and LT, plus standard 4WD and all-terrain tyres. It suits you if you want a more capable all-rounder.
• ZR2: This is the most serious off-road model, with the high-output engine, a larger lift, mud-terrain tyres, and exclusive Multimatic DSSV dampers. It’s the right pick if off-road performance is your priority.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the range, but the more advanced driver-assistance features remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Colorado?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 236 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.73% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $43,038 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $43,463 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,106 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Colorado has become a bit easier to buy used than it was a year ago. If you’re a future seller, that also means you may face more pressure to price competitively to stand out.

The current market still supports the Colorado’s appeal, but the trend points to a truck that is holding value less aggressively than before. For you, that can be good news on the buying side and a reminder to watch condition and equipment closely if you plan to resell later.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado safe?

The 2023 Colorado earns a three-star safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard, and it includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. OnStar emergency calling and automatic crash notification are also included, along with Teen Driver and Buckle to Drive.

The main caveat is the forward collision warning system, which is described as overly sensitive and prone to false alerts. Optional features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with active steering assist, rear cross-traffic and pedestrian alert with automatic braking, and rear parking sensors.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.73% compared with last year.
• It gives you a redesigned truck with strong tech and off-road focus.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $47,982 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $43,463 CAD average.
• It focuses more on recreation and lifestyle use.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the better value and are comfortable with its rough edges. Consider the 2024 if you’re willing to pay more for a newer take on the Colorado’s lifestyle-oriented formula.
