How much does the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport cost?

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.

You get a strong mix of spaciousness, a smooth ride, and impressive features, especially in the higher trims. The design also stands out, and the cabin is described as comfortable and easy to live with day to day. The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and interior materials that can feel cheap.

For you, that means this is a good fit if you want a stylish two-row SUV with a roomy cabin and a more distinctive personality than the usual mainstream choice. The market also shows 32.1% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as spacious and smooth-riding, and the feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience with features that make it easy to count on. The powertrain is described as energetic enough in the V6-equipped test vehicle, though the drivetrain can occasionally lack refinement.

Volkswagen also includes a broad set of standard driver-assistance features, which can help reduce day-to-day stress. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some of the cheaper interior materials and rattles may affect how solid the vehicle feels as it ages.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Comfortline gets the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and the core safety suite, but the higher trims add more upscale touches. The Highline brings adaptive LED headlights, while the Execline adds a semi-autonomous Park Assist system and an Area View 360-degree surround-view camera system.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, or an available 3.6-litre V6 with 276 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. The V6 is more satisfying, but it uses more fuel and the drivetrain can feel less refined.
• Safety package: Every version includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, automatic post-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, rear cross-traffic alert, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. Higher trims add adaptive LED headlights, Park Assist, and a 360-degree camera system.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth for two devices, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless charging, and Car-Net remote connectivity. The system is well equipped, but the user experience can be frustrating.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 test vehicle averaged 12.3 L/100 km on the evaluation loop, and the V6 is rated at 12.2 L/100 km in combined driving. The turbo-four is more efficient, but it still requires premium fuel.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is offered in 4 trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline, Highline, and Execline.

Here's the short version:

• Trendline: This is the entry point if you want the Atlas Cross Sport’s style and standard safety equipment at the lowest rung, but it is the least feature-rich choice.
• Comfortline: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it brings the core digital cockpit, wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, and the full standard safety suite without pushing you into the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• Highline: Choose this if you want a more polished feel, since it adds adaptive LED headlights and moves the SUV closer to the upscale end of the range.
• Execline: This is the most fully equipped version, with the 21-inch wheels, semi-autonomous Park Assist, and Area View camera system, but it is best for you only if you want the top-spec look and features.

All trims include the same broad safety package, so the main differences are equipment, appearance, and convenience features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 162 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.94% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,007 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport's resale value?

The current average of $31,007 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,454 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the vehicle more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, that means resale value may be steadier if you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition.

The model’s distinctive styling and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, especially among shoppers who want a roomy two-row SUV with a more upscale look. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport safe?

The Atlas Cross Sport gets decent crash-test ratings, though it does not earn the highest accolades from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every version includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, automatic post-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, rear cross-traffic alert, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. Higher trims add adaptive LED headlights, a semi-autonomous Park Assist system, and an Area View 360-degree surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that Lane Assist can misread road construction scars as lane markings and make unnecessary corrections, and Travel Assist can feel a bit too obvious in its steering and braking inputs.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds standard digital instrumentation and larger 21-inch wheels on the top trim.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,085 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $31,007 CAD average.
• It offers a familiar two-row layout with strong owner praise for handling, style, and space.

The 2022 is the better pick if you want the newer standard equipment and are comfortable paying more for it. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the smarter value play, especially if you can find one with the features you want.
