CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Toyota Venza
overall

Summary
With 90 currently listed for sale and an average price of $34,350 CAD, 36.7% of 2022 Toyota Venza listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Toyota Venza 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.5 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota Venza stands out for blending wagon-like proportions with crossover SUV practicality, while pairing that shape with a standard hybrid powertrain and standard all-wheel drive. It is a midsize two-row SUV with a hybrid gasoline-electric setup that includes a 2.5-litre gas engine, electric motors, and a continuously variable transmission. That combination gives it a clear efficiency advantage, and Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption as low as 5.9 litres per 100 kilometres in city driving, 6.4 on the highway, and 6.1 combined.
For buyers, the Venza’s appeal is rooted in its fuel efficiency, standard all-wheel drive, and standard advanced safety features. It also arrives in three trim levels starting at $38,890 in Canada, which helps define its place as a well-equipped, value-conscious choice. At the same time, its technology can be unintuitive and its design may not appeal to everyone, so it is best suited to shoppers who prioritise comfort, efficiency, and a distinctive look over maximum practicality or a more conventional layout.

The Venza looks more Lexus-like, inside and out. I was very impressed with how quiet and comfortable the interior was. I like the fuel consumption of this new generation of hybrid and the higher sitting position. I looked at an XLE, which had good safety tech and decent upgrades over the LE. Disappointed that the panoramic sunroof is only available on the Limited trim. I think Toyota should include a conventional sunroof/moonroof that opens on at least the XLE. I would buy one if the markets pricing was normal.

We love our Toyota Venza! Its user friendly, has great visibility and maneuverability. Spacious, yet not too big. Great gas milage being a hybrid. Just need to get used to the quiet ignition noise- you forget its on! Weve been happy with this car for our 16 yer old driver.

Wonderful car, even considering the price tag. Extremely posh interior, thoughtful tech and safety features, beautiful design, drives pleasantly. Not for racing enthusiasts. A vehicle for those who want to keep their blood pressure under control.

How much does the 2022 Toyota Venza cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $34,491 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $34,394 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $37,972 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $37,841 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.85% |
Prices have softened 8.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 89 listings available, which suggests you have a modest amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 Toyota Venza a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Toyota Venza earns a 4.71/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its comfort, quiet ride, and fuel efficiency, and many also like its upscale interior and smooth driving experience. The Venza’s distinctive design and value proposition come through strongly in owner feedback, especially if you want something that feels more premium than a typical mainstream SUV.
The trade-offs are clear: the technology can be unintuitive, and the design may not suit everyone. It is best suited to you if you prioritise comfort, efficiency, and a distinctive look over maximum practicality or a conventional layout.
With 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market if you shop carefully.
Is the 2022 Toyota Venza reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers highlighting the Venza’s comfort and fuel efficiency over the long term. The hybrid setup is described as transparent in operation and requires no special attention, which should make day-to-day ownership feel straightforward.
Toyota’s shared-platform engineering also supports long vehicle viability, and the model’s hybrid system is backed by the brand’s extensive experience with this technology. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the powertrain and more about whether the vehicle’s technology and packaging suit your needs.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Venza?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LE is the most basic version, while the XLE and Limited add more comfort and convenience equipment. The base trim gets the 8-inch touchscreen, a 5-inch instrument cluster display, and cloth-like simplicity relative to the higher trims, while the upper trims add a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch instrument cluster display, heated steering wheel, SofTex upholstery, and more premium audio and navigation features.
- Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre inline four-cylinder hybrid system with three electric motors and 219 horsepower combined. It is tuned for efficiency first, with EV operation for short distances and drive modes that let you tailor the response.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, while front and rear parking assist with automated braking is reserved for the XLE and Limited.
- Infotainment: The LE uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and six speakers. The XLE and Limited upgrade to a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and a nine-speaker JBL audio system, while the Limited adds a head-up display and digital rearview mirror.
- Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption as low as 5.9 L/100 km in city driving, 6.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 6.1 L/100 km combined.
Which 2022 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?
The 2022 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the value-focused choice if you want the Venza’s core strengths without paying for the higher-trim extras. You still get the hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a power liftgate.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more premium feel without jumping all the way to the top price. You get pushbutton start, keyless entry, a heated steering wheel, SofTex upholstery, the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL audio, navigation, and front and rear parking assist with automated braking.
- Limited: Choose this if you want the most upscale Venza experience. It adds a head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, a digital rearview mirror, LED fog lamps, and a surround-view camera, making it the most feature-rich version.
Safety equipment is strong across the range, but the parking-assist braking feature is limited to the XLE and Limited.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Venza?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.
- Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 89 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.85% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $34,394 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Toyota Venza's resale value?
The current average of $34,491 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,841 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the Venza is currently more accessible to used buyers than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that means you may not see the same pricing strength that existed previously, especially if market supply stays healthy.
Even so, the Venza’s efficiency, standard all-wheel drive, and upscale appeal should help it remain attractive to shoppers looking for a distinctive hybrid SUV. If demand stays steady, well-kept examples should continue to hold reasonable value.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Toyota Venza safe?
The 2022 Toyota Venza earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, along with a rearview camera, stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes, brake assist, and eight airbags.
A notable strength is that the core driver-assistance suite is standard across the lineup. A caveat is that front and rear parking assist with automated braking is reserved for the XLE and Limited, so the base trim misses that extra layer of low-speed protection.
Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.85% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines hybrid efficiency, standard all-wheel drive, and a more upscale feel than a typical mainstream SUV.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $31,987 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $34,491 CAD average.
- It offers a more premium-feeling hybrid crossover with standard all-wheel drive.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $40,304 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $34,491 CAD average.
- It sharpens the styling and keeps the fuel-efficient, comfort-focused character.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, efficiency, and standard equipment, the 2022 is the sensible pick. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the value route; if you want a newer-feeling alternative and do not mind paying more, the 2023 is worth a look.
