Is the 2022 Toyota Venza a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Toyota Venza earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, quiet ride, and fuel efficiency, and many also like its upscale interior feel and smooth driving experience. It is especially appealing if you want a distinctive, hybrid-powered two-row SUV that feels more premium than many mainstream rivals.

The main trade-offs are its unintuitive technology and polarizing design, and the Venza is best suited to you if you prioritise comfort, efficiency, and a more distinctive look over maximum practicality. With 28.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota Venza reliable?

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort and fuel efficiency that suggests you can count on it as a daily driver. The hybrid powertrain is described as transparent in operation and requiring no special attention, which supports the Venza’s reputation for easy ownership.

Toyota’s shared-platform engineering also points to long vehicle viability and straightforward service support. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical complexity and more about whether the Venza’s limited cargo space and technology quirks fit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Venza?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE is the most basic version, with an 8-inch touchscreen, a 5-inch instrument cluster display, and fewer convenience features than the XLE and Limited. The XLE and Limited add pushbutton start, keyless entry, a heated steering wheel, SofTex faux leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and a 7-inch instrument cluster display, while the Limited further adds a head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, and a digital rearview mirror.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre inline four-cylinder hybrid system with three electric motors and 219 horsepower combined. The setup is tuned for efficiency, with electric-only operation for short distances and regenerative braking helping recharge the battery.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, while front and rear parking assist with automated braking is reserved for XLE and Limited models.
• Infotainment: The LE gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and Toyota Connected Services. XLE and Limited models upgrade to a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, a JBL audio system, and intelligent touch-capacitive controls.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption as low as 5.9 litres per 100 kilometres in city driving, 6.4 on the highway, and 6.1 combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value pick if you want the Venza’s hybrid efficiency, standard all-wheel drive, and full safety suite without paying for luxury extras. It still gives you the 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and the standard power liftgate.
• XLE: This is the best-value upgrade if you want the biggest jump in comfort and tech. You get pushbutton start, keyless entry, a heated steering wheel, SofTex upholstery, the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, JBL audio, and navigation.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the most upscale Venza experience, including the head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, digital rearview mirror, and surround-view camera.

Front and rear parking assist with automated braking is standard on XLE and Limited models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Venza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 92 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.60% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,583 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Venza's resale value?

The current average of $33,583 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,988 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Venza has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier to attract interest if you decide to sell later. The current market also shows that demand is still present, but buyers are being more selective about price and equipment.

Because the Venza has a strong efficiency story and a premium-leaning image, well-kept examples should remain appealing to shoppers who want a hybrid SUV with a more upscale feel. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Venza safe?

The 2022 Toyota Venza earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, daytime bicycle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road-sign assist. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard on all trim levels.

A useful caveat is that front and rear parking assist with automated braking is limited to XLE and Limited models, so the base LE misses some convenience-oriented safety tech. The Limited also adds a surround-view camera, which is helpful if you want the most complete parking visibility.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety equipment.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,291 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,583 CAD average.
• It offers a more premium-feeling hybrid SUV with standard all-wheel drive.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $39,526 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,583 CAD average.
• It adds a sharper, more upscale look with a luxury-leaning interior.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want the current-year market balance of price, satisfaction, and equipment. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the better value path; if you want a newer-feeling presentation and can spend more, the 2023 is worth a look.
