What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Venza?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE is well equipped, but the XLE adds a larger 12.3-inch screen, 19-inch wheels, SofTex bolsters, and other upgrades, while the Limited adds a digital rearview mirror, Homelink, illuminated footwells, a backup camera washer, and the Star Gaze panoramic roof.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid setup with electric motors, an e-CVT, and standard all-wheel drive. It delivers 219 horsepower combined and is tuned more for smooth, efficient driving than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane-departure alert with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard, and automatic braking for that system is standard on the XLE and Limited.
• Infotainment: The LE uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while the XLE and Limited get a 12.3-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and connected services such as Safety Connect, Remote Connect, and Service Connect are included.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 5.9 L/100 km in the city, 6.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 6.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value play if you want the Venza’s core strengths without stretching the budget. You still get standard hybrid power, all-wheel drive, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a strong list of comfort and convenience features.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the larger 12.3-inch screen, 19-inch wheels, SofTex bolsters, a rearview camera with dynamic gridlines, and the JBL premium audio system. It feels like the sweet spot between price and equipment.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the most upscale Venza experience. It adds the digital rearview mirror, Homelink, illuminated footwells, backup camera washer, and the Star Gaze panoramic roof.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard across the lineup, and buyers also get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Venza?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 71 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.41% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,187 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Toyota Venza's resale value?

The current average of $32,214 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,362 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you’re buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. The Venza’s hybrid efficiency, standard all-wheel drive, and upscale positioning should help it stay appealing to used shoppers. Strong equipment and broad appeal can support demand, especially if the vehicle is well maintained and lightly used.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Toyota Venza safe?

The 2021 Venza earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes a pre-collision warning system with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane-departure alert with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. You also get eight airbags, a rearview camera, hill start assist, parking distance sensors, a tire pressure monitoring system, adjustable front seatbelt anchors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Toyota notes that the lane-keeping and lane-tracing assists can position the SUV a little farther to the right in the lane than some rivals, though the system reads lane lines well and stays on course.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers a hybrid-only, standard-AWD setup with upscale design and strong fuel efficiency.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $34,389 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $32,214 CAD average.
• It keeps the same hybrid-and-AWD formula while sitting between a wagon and a crossover SUV.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better buy if you want the strongest value and are comfortable with its upscale-but-not-max-practicality mission. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2022 is the cleaner alternative, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2021’s softer market and solid equipment mix.
