Used 2022 Toyota Tacoma for Sale nearOttawa, ON

How much does the 2022 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 5.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 340 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Toyota Tacoma earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, fuel economy, and off-road capability, and they also like its resale value and overall performance. For buyers who want a smaller truck that can handle commuting, camping, kayaking, or mountain biking trips, that mix is a strong fit. The trade-offs are familiar: the cabin tech can feel dated, and some versions are underpowered with cramped seating.

With 27.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is enough market flexibility to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability, being dependable, and holding up well over time, with many owners describing it as a truck they can count on. The expert assessment also describes it as a supremely trusty and durable vehicle built for demanding use. Toyota’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about living with its age-related compromises if you want a more refined daily driver.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base setup includes 16-inch steel wheels, a manually sliding rear window, air conditioning, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a trio of USB ports, a 4.2-inch colour display, and a 7-inch touchscreen. Higher trims add features such as alloy wheels, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, leather seating, blind spot monitoring, and a power-sliding or power-sliding and tilting moonroof.
• Powertrain: In Canada, the Tacoma uses a 3.5-litre V6 with 4WD, and both six-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmissions are offered. It is capable, but the gearing and transmission can make acceleration feel less confident than you might expect.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard, with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 7-inch touchscreen, while all packages add an 8-inch touchscreen and SiriusXM satellite radio. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, and the layout is simple and easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 with 4WD and a manual transmission returns 13.8 L/100 km in city driving, 11.4 on the highway, and 12.7 combined. With the automatic, it uses 13.0 L/100 km city, 10.5 highway, and 11.8 combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 6 trim levels: standard/Trail, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off-road, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• standard/Trail: This is the most affordable way into the Tacoma, and it still gives you the core truck experience plus Toyota Safety Sense and a usable 7-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the basics and plan to keep costs down.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, heated front seats, and an 8-inch touchscreen without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• TRD Sport: Choose this if you want a more polished and better-equipped daily driver, with 17-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, and a power-sliding rear window.
• TRD Sport Premium: This trim builds on the TRD Sport with more upscale features, making it a better fit if you want comfort and convenience upgrades alongside the sportier look.
• TRD Off-road: This is the one to target if trail use matters most, thanks to all-terrain tires, Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, and Multi-Terrain Select.
• TRD Pro: This is the most capable and most specialised choice, with unique styling, skid plates, upgraded LED fog lights, a TRD-tuned suspension, Crawl Control, and a multi-terrain monitor.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the range, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 340 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.56% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $43,490 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $43,649 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,221 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future sellers may face a market that is less aggressive than it was a year ago. Even so, the Tacoma’s reputation for reliability and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand. If you keep the truck in good condition and choose a desirable trim, you should still have a solid audience when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The 2022 Tacoma earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional, so you may want to look for a better-equipped trim if those features matter to you. The backup camera is standard, but the image is very grainy, so backing up still deserves extra care.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the Tacoma formula intact with strong off-road ability, easy-to-use tech, and a manual transmission option.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $42,944 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $43,649 CAD average.
• It adds fresh special editions and standard dual-zone automatic climate control.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $48,011 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $43,649 CAD average.
• It leans harder into rugged appeal and reliability with stronger off-road emphasis.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the balanced pick if you want the familiar Tacoma formula with decent market availability and softer pricing than last year. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is the smarter value play; if you want to spend more for the next model year, the 2023 brings a stronger rugged-image pitch.
