• Powertrain: The gasoline model uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 203 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions are also offered, with the Prime adding a larger battery pack and electric-only driving capability.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane-tracing assist, and road-sign assist. In Canada, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and rear cross-traffic braking are also standard.

Which 2022 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Limited, Trail, and TRD Off-Road.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the RAV4’s core practicality and standard safety without paying for extras. It’s the value play for shoppers who care most about getting into the model at the lowest price.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds meaningful equipment while staying below the more expensive upper grades. If you want a more complete daily driver without stretching too far, this is the one to focus on.
• XLE Premium: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for it. It builds on the XLE with a more polished presentation and is a good fit if comfort matters more than bargain pricing.
• Limited: This is the trim to consider if you want the most premium mainstream RAV4 experience in the gas lineup. It’s the right pick if you value the richer tech and convenience content that comes with the upper end of the range.
• Trail: This trim is aimed at buyers who want a more rugged look and the equipment associated with that character. It suits you if style and a tougher appearance matter more than pure value.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the most specialised gas trim and is the one to choose if you want the most capability-focused version in the lineup. It’s the least about value and most about the off-road-oriented character implied by the name.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard across the lineup, and Canadian models also get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and rear cross-traffic braking.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure.
