Yes — it earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.

Drivers describe it as dependable, trouble-free, and a vehicle they can count on, with strong praise for its comfort and overall quality. The expert assessment also points to a competent, well-rounded SUV that covers the basics well and is backed by a five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the cabin packaging and tech will suit your needs over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Highlander?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE starts with standard AWD, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, pushbutton start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an 8-inch touchscreen. Higher trims add comfort and convenience features, while the Limited and Platinum bring more upscale equipment. The base trim is the one most likely to feel light on luxury features.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and standard AWD. It feels stronger once moving than off the line, and it is tuned more for smooth, confident family driving than excitement.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes forward collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, traffic-sign recognition, and automatic high beams. All trims also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and eight airbags.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, and SiriusXM satellite radio. It does not offer wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, though the layout is straightforward and easy to use. A 12.3-inch screen is available on higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada figures are 11.8 L/100 km in the city, 8.6 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.3 L/100 km combined. In testing, the XSE returned 10.0 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Toyota Highlander trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Highlander is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value-focused starting point if you want standard AWD, heated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, and the core safety and convenience features without stretching the budget.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, wireless device charging, a power sunroof, a power liftgate, and synthetic leather upholstery.
• XSE: Choose this if you want the sportier look and feel, including unique exterior styling, 20-inch wheels, second-row captain’s chairs, and a sport-tuned suspension.
• Limited: This is the upscale pick, with heated and ventilated front seats, genuine leather upholstery, acoustic noise-reducing windows, a panoramic moonroof, a hands-free power liftgate, a JBL audio system, and the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen.
• Platinum: Go here if you want the most features, including a 360-degree parking camera, heated second-row seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a rearview camera mirror.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, and all trims also get blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Highlander?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price movement to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 288 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.77% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,543 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $41,543 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,043 CAD.

That softer pricing can be good news if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. A vehicle that is priced below the current average today may still hold appeal later if it remains well maintained and properly equipped. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Highlander safe?

The 2022 Toyota Highlander earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Highlander comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes forward collision avoidance, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, traffic-sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Some upper-level safety features, including front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking monitor, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a digital rearview mirror, are not standard across the lineup. The lane-centering and lane-keeping systems can also feel overly active in some driving situations.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines a stout V6, standard safety features, and a family-friendly three-row layout.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $38,547 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $41,543 CAD average.
• It is a familiar three-row family SUV with added standard safety technology.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2022 is the better pick thanks to its broad trim range, standard safety equipment, and solid owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Highlander formula.
