Used 2022 Toyota Corolla for Sale nearMarkham, ON

How much does the 2022 Toyota Corolla cost?

Prices have softened 9.78% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 507 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota Corolla a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.17/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal with a few clear compromises. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its dependable design, practicality, and value for money, and many also like the feature set. The trade-offs are familiar: outdated technology, potentially polarizing design, and sluggish performance.

That mix fits you well if you want a straightforward compact car with multiple body styles, transmissions, and powertrain choices, including a hybrid. With 33.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Toyota Corolla reliable?

Owners rate it 4.17/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights dependable design and a car that feels well worth the investment, which is exactly the kind of language you want to hear when shopping used. The expert assessment also frames it as a reliable and sensible compact car, with a reputation for low-stress ownership and broad everyday usefulness.

Toyota’s warranty coverage includes three years or 60,000 kilometres for basic coverage and five years or 100,000 kilometres for the powertrain, which helps support confidence in early ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about living with dated tech and modest performance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Corolla?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Corolla’s trim walk changes the look and feel quite a bit, with SE and XSE models getting a more aggressive front fascia, while the Nightshade Edition adds blacked-out trim and the Apex Edition gets a subtle body kit and model-specific 18-inch wheels. Base trims are more restrained, so make sure the equipment level matches how much style and content you want.
• Powertrain: You can shop a 1.8-litre four-cylinder with 139 horsepower and 126 pound-feet of torque, or a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 169 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. The smaller engine pairs with a CVT on most trims, while the base L gets a six-speed manual; the 2.0-litre can also be had with a six-speed manual or a CVT.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, Lane Tracing Assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard from the Corolla LE, so base-trim shoppers should check whether that matters to them.
• Infotainment: The base L gets a 7-inch touchscreen, while all other trims get an 8-inch screen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a six-speaker audio system are standard, but wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are not offered.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-litre engine with CVT is rated at 7.9 L/100 km city, 5.9 highway, and 6.8 combined. The manual-transmission SE Apex Edition is rated at 8.2 L/100 km city, 6.5 highway, and 7.4 combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Corolla is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, XSE, Apex Edition, and Nightshade Edition.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point if you want the lowest-cost Corolla and are comfortable with the most basic equipment. It makes sense if your priority is value and you do not need the larger touchscreen or extra convenience features found higher up.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday usability while staying close to the lower end of the range. It also gets blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, which is a meaningful safety upgrade over the base model.
• XLE: Choose this if you want a more upscale Corolla experience and are willing to pay for it. It is the trim to consider if comfort and a richer feature set matter more to you than keeping the purchase as lean as possible.
• SE: This is the trim to buy if you want the Corolla’s more expressive styling and a livelier feel without going all the way to the specialty editions. It is also the starting point for the Apex Edition and Nightshade Edition variants.
• XSE: Pick this if you want the most fully equipped mainstream Corolla sedan before moving into special editions. It adds more content and is one of the trims that can be paired with the upgraded JBL audio system.
• Apex Edition: This is the choice for you if you want the sportiest Corolla variant in this model year. It adds a model-specific suspension, a lowered ride height, and a sport exhaust, but it is not a full performance model and ride quality gets firmer.
• Nightshade Edition: Choose this if you care most about appearance and want the blacked-out styling treatment. It is a style-focused version rather than a mechanical upgrade.

The safety package is strongest once you move beyond the base trim, so LE is the practical starting point for most used buyers.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Corolla?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly when you find a strong one.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 507 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.78% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,264 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $22,264 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,677 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if the market stays loose. A model that is already priced below its recent average can be harder to flip at a premium unless it is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean.

Even so, the Corolla’s broad appeal helps support demand over time. Buyers tend to keep showing up for a car with strong practicality, good fuel economy, and a reputation for dependable ownership.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.17/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Corolla safe?

The 2022 Toyota Corolla earns an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 brings forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, Lane Tracing Assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard from the Corolla LE.

One caveat is that the headlights received lower IIHS ratings on some trims, so you should pay attention to the specific version you are considering.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.17/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds two new colours and keeps the Corolla’s broad mix of body styles, transmissions, and powertrain choices.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,921 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,264 CAD average.
• It blends affordability, reliability, and efficiency with a livelier personality.

The bottom line: If you want the broader 2022 market and are shopping for the best mix of choice and value, the 2022 is the better target. If your priority is simply spending less up front, the 2021 is the smarter price-sensitive alternative.
