Used 2022 Toyota Corolla for Sale nearBarrie, ON

How much does the 2022 Toyota Corolla cost?

Prices have softened 10.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 519 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota Corolla a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.17/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for compact-car shoppers. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its dependable design, practicality, and value for money, and they also like the feature content. The trade-offs are familiar: outdated technology, a potentially polarising design, and sluggish performance.

For you, that means the Corolla makes the most sense if you want a sensible compact car with lots of configuration choice rather than a class leader in excitement or tech. Even so, 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s still room to find value.

Is the 2022 Toyota Corolla reliable?

Owners rate it 4.17/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, practical car that many people feel good about keeping for the long haul. The expert assessment also frames it as a reliable and sensible compact car, with a reputation for being a car you can count on.

Toyota’s warranty coverage adds some reassurance for used buyers, and the Corolla’s broad appeal suggests it should remain easy to live with over time. The main ownership risk is less about durability and more about whether the car’s dated tech and modest performance will still suit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Corolla?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Corolla’s trim spread changes the look and feel quite a bit, with SE and XSE models getting a more aggressive front fascia, while the Nightshade Edition adds blacked-out trim and the Apex Edition gets a subtle body kit and model-specific 18-inch wheels. Base trims are more restrained, so make sure the equipment level matches how much style and content you want.
• Powertrain: You get a 1.8-litre four-cylinder in L, LE, and XLE models, while SE and XSE models use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with more power. The base L is the only trim with a six-speed manual on the smaller engine, and the 2.0-litre can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a CVT.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, Lane Tracing Assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard from the Corolla LE.
• Infotainment: The base L gets a 7-inch touchscreen, while all other trim levels get an 8-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but wireless versions are not offered.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-litre engine with CVT is rated at 7.9 L/100 km in the city, 5.9 on the highway, and 6.8 combined. The manual SE Apex Edition is rated at 8.2 L/100 km city, 6.5 highway, and 7.4 combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Corolla is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE, and XSE.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with the most basic equipment, including the 7-inch touchscreen and manual transmission on the smaller engine.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds more everyday convenience while also bringing standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
• XLE: Choose this if you want a more upscale Corolla with the larger touchscreen and the available premium audio setup.
• SE: This is the trim to target if you want the more expressive styling and the 2.0-litre engine without jumping to the top end.
• XSE: Pick this if you want the most content and the premium audio system, along with the strongest feature set in the standard Corolla sedan lineup.

The safety package is strongest from the LE upward, so that trim is the sweet spot for many used buyers.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Corolla?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should have some leverage if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 519 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,306 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $22,306 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,842 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Corolla is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim choice rather than on market momentum alone.

The Corolla’s broad appeal should help it stay relevant with used shoppers, especially because it offers practical ownership and strong safety credentials. Even so, the recent price decline shows that sellers may need to price competitively to stand out.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.17/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Corolla safe?

The Corolla earns an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, Lane Tracing Assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard from the Corolla LE.

One caveat is that headlight performance varies by trim, with lower IIHS headlight ratings on some versions.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.17/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds two new colours and keeps the Corolla’s broad trim and powertrain choice.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,103 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,306 CAD average.
• It blends affordability, reliability, and efficiency with a livelier driving character.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2022 if you want the newer model-year pricing context and the same core Corolla strengths with minimal change. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2021 is the better value path, especially if you’re comfortable giving up the small year-over-year update.
