Is the 2022 Toyota Camry a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Toyota Camry earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, comfortable interior, stylish design, and value for money. That lines up well with the Camry’s role as a roomy, reliable, efficient, safe, and affordable family sedan. If you want a practical car that still looks polished, this model year fits that brief well. 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota Camry reliable?

The owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and a car you can count on over the long term. The expert assessment also describes it as a comfortable, affordable, reliable, safe, and efficient family car. Toyota’s free trial subscriptions for connected services add a small ownership perk early on.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a few drivers report the four-cylinder engine feels underpowered, so make sure the powertrain suits your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Camry?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE is the most basic version, while higher trims add more equipment and some safety features. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the Camry TRD and XSE, but it is optional on LE and SE.
• Powertrain: You can choose a four-cylinder engine, a V6 engine, or a fuel-efficient gas-electric hybrid powertrain. The TRD uses a 3.5-litre V6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Every Camry has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, which includes adaptive cruise control and available lane-centring assistance. Safety Connect is standard, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on TRD and XSE.
• Infotainment: The standard system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Safety Connect. XSE and TRD models get a 9-inch touchscreen, and the TRD adds a JBL premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The TRD is rated at 9.4 L/100 km combined, and the hybrid powertrain is described as using less than 5 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres in combined driving.

Which 2022 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Camry is offered in 13 trim levels: LE, SE, XLE, XSE, TRD, SE Hybrid, XLE Hybrid, XSE Hybrid, LE Hybrid, Nightshade Edition, V6, XSE V6, and XLE V6.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Camry lineup and are comfortable with the most basic equipment.
• SE: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits near the middle of the range and gives you a more appealing balance of equipment and price.
• XLE: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay more for comfort-oriented features.
• XSE: This suits you if you want a sportier appearance and the larger 9-inch touchscreen, plus standard blind-spot monitoring.
• TRD: Pick this if you want the most performance-focused Camry, with the V6, track-tuned suspension, and the most aggressive styling.

The safety package is broad across the range, but blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard only on the TRD and XSE, and optional on LE and SE.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Camry?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 110 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.45% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,986 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $26,779 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,322 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Camry has become a bit more buyer-friendly in the used market. For a future seller, that means you may not see the same pricing strength that existed a year ago, especially if your car is a higher-volume trim. On the other hand, the Camry’s broad appeal should help support steady demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Camry safe?

The 2022 Camry earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and five-star ratings in every National Highway Traffic Safety Administration test.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2022 Camry has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, which includes adaptive cruise control and available lane-centring assistance. Toyota also includes Safety Connect, with automatic collision notification, an emergency assistance button, roadside assistance access, and a stolen vehicle locator. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the TRD and XSE, and optional on LE and SE.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping and adaptive cruise systems can feel overly intrusive at times, especially on roads with changing lane markings or curves.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 stands out for its stylish design, strong reliability reputation, and broad appeal as a practical family sedan.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $24,061 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $26,779 CAD average.
• It remains a strong all-rounder with broad trim, powertrain, and drivetrain choice.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced used buy, the 2022 is the stronger pick thanks to its softer pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and broad appeal. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the better value path.
