Used 2022 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearLondon, ON

How much does the 2022 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 9.78% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 164 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, ruggedness, and spacious interior. The 4Runner also stands out for its off-road performance, which fits its use case as a rugged SUV that can handle everyday duties and still venture beyond paved roads.

That said, some owners feel it is overpriced for the limited features it offers, so it makes the most sense if you value capability and character over polish. With 39.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to reliability, dependability, and trouble-free ownership as recurring strengths. Toyota’s 4.0-litre V6 is described as reliable, which supports the 4Runner’s reputation for being a vehicle you can count on over time.

Toyota backs the 4Runner with a five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, which adds some reassurance for used buyers. Even so, you should still budget for the realities of an older, truck-based SUV, especially if the previous owner used it hard off-road.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota 4Runner?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Trail grade includes push-button start, remote keyless entry, a power-sliding rear window, satellite radio, multiple USB ports, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The SR5 adds package-based upgrades, while the Limited brings three-row seating, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, front and rear parking sensors, LED fog lights, a 15-speaker JBL audio system, and full-time 4WD. Heated front seats are not included on the Trail grade but are otherwise standard.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 4.0-litre V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, paired with a five-speed automatic and standard 4WD with low range. It is reliable and gives a decent jump off the line, but it feels dated and underwhelming in many everyday driving situations.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P includes forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-departure warning. Some of these features are only possible with the automatic transmission.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and multiple USB ports. You cannot upgrade to a larger screen, but navigation and a 15-speaker JBL premium audio system are available.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates consumption at 14.8 L/100 km in the city, 12.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 13.8 L/100 km combined. With the Limited’s full-time 4WD system, it is 14.9 L/100 km city and 12.6 L/100 km highway.

Which 2022 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 6 trim levels: Trail, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• Trail: This is the entry point and the best fit if you want the 4Runner’s core rugged character at the lowest starting price. You still get the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Toyota Safety Sense P, and standard 4WD, so it covers the essentials well.
• SR5: This is the trim to consider if you want a broader starting point for packages and a more mainstream 4Runner setup. It keeps the same basic powertrain and capability, while opening the door to the package-based upgrades mentioned in the model lineup.
• TRD Sport: Choose this if you want a more road-oriented 4Runner with 20-inch alloy wheels and X-REAS performance suspension. It adds TRD hood scoop and sport exterior badging, but it is still more about appearance and on-road tuning than trail hardware.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the best-value choice if you want the 4Runner’s off-road hardware without jumping to the top of the range. It adds a locking rear differential, crawl control, active traction control, multi-terrain select, unique 17-inch wheels, black roof rails, KDSS, and TRD Off-Road badging.
• Limited: Pick this if you want the most comfort and convenience features, including three-row seating, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, parking sensors, LED fog lights, a JBL audio system, and full-time 4WD. It is the most road-focused version in the lineup.
• TRD Pro: This is the most off-road-focused trim, with enhanced Fox shock absorbers, an aluminium front skid plate, a basket-style roof rack, 17-inch matte black alloy wheels, and TRD Pro badging. It suits you best if trail capability matters more than everyday polish.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota 4Runner?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you have room to shop, but the better listings may not last long.

• Deal availability: 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 164 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.78% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $49,245 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $49,776 CAD sits slightly below last year's $55,174 CAD.

That price movement suggests the 2022 4Runner has become a little more accessible for buyers, which can make it easier to move later if you buy well. The year-round range also shows that values have stayed relatively firm, so a clean, well-equipped example should still hold interest.

For future sellers, the key is condition and trim desirability. A 4Runner with strong equipment, lower wear, and a good service history should remain appealing because shoppers still value its rugged image and capability.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2022 4Runner earns four-star ratings in frontal and side-impact testing, and three-star ratings in rollover testing from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-departure warning. Some of these features depend on the automatic transmission, which is standard here.

The main caveat is that the 2022 4Runner had not yet been evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety at the time of assessment. That leaves you with a solid standard safety suite, but not a full set of third-party crash-test results.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the rugged, adventure-ready character that defines the 4Runner.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $47,259 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $49,776 CAD average.
• It appeals to buyers who want rugged capability and strong resale value.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $55,106 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $49,776 CAD average.
• It adds standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the sweet spot if you want the 4Runner’s core strengths and a softer price than the 2023. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is worth a look, but the 2022 gives you a better balance of value and current-market availability.
