How much does the 2022 Nissan Sentra cost?

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the expert score is 7.67/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The 2022 Sentra is a well-rounded compact sedan that aims to be competent and affordable rather than flashy. It benefits from being part of a newer generation after the 2020 redesign, so it feels current without leaning on a single headline feature. That makes it a sensible fit if you want an uncomplicated small sedan that covers the basics well.

29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which points to a fairly active market for shoppers who are ready to compare.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Sentra is described as a solid, competent compact car with few, if any, shortcomings, and its newer-generation status helps it avoid the feel of an ageing carryover. Its 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine is presented as consistent rather than exciting, but it delivers satisfactory low-speed and highway performance, which is the kind of dependable behaviour many used buyers want.

The Sentra is backed by a five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, which adds some reassurance for ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about a glaring flaw and more about choosing a car in a crowded segment where rivals may offer more polish or features for the money.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim includes 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, halogen headlights, a 4.2-inch advanced driver’s display, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The SV adds 16-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, premium cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 8-inch touchscreen, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The SR adds 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, remote start, unique exterior styling, sport cloth seats with orange accent stitching, and a leather-wrapped shift knob.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 Sentra uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. In Canada, a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive are standard, while a CVT is available. The manual is also offered on the SR grade.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Optional adaptive cruise control and a surround-view parking monitor were fitted to the test model, and the adaptive cruise control is not standard on every trim.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB connectivity, and Bluetooth. SV and SR trims get an 8-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada-rated fuel consumption is 9.2 L/100 km city, 6.2 highway, and 7.9 combined with the manual transmission, or 8.0 city, 6.0 highway, and 7.1 combined with the CVT. SR figures rise to 9.4/6.4/8.1 with the manual and 8.2/6.1/7.3 with the CVT.

Which 2022 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, and SR.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and can live with the basics. You still get the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the core safety equipment, so it covers the essentials well.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the 8-inch touchscreen, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals, premium cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and intelligent cruise control.
• SR: Choose this if you want the sportier look and extra equipment, including 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, remote start, unique exterior styling, and sport cloth seats with orange accent stitching.

The safety package is strong across the line, with standard driver-assistance features that make even the lower trims well equipped.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 274 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.83% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,874 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $19,006 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,557 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sentra has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier to attract interest when you eventually sell. A softer market today can also mean you may need to price competitively if you want a quick sale later. Even so, the Sentra’s broad appeal as a competent compact sedan should help it remain relevant with budget-minded shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick award from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sentra comes with a solid standard safety suite that includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Optional adaptive cruise control and a surround-view parking monitor add more convenience on equipped models.

One caveat is that the optional adaptive cruise control can brake abruptly when it closes in on traffic ahead, and the IIHS award came with lower headlight ratings.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 Sentra benefits from being part of the newer-generation redesign and offers a balanced, competent small-sedan package.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,476 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,006 CAD average.
• It blends style, efficiency, technology, and performance into a smart compact-car choice.

The bottom line: If you want the newer-year Sentra with a softer price trend and strong safety credentials, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers much of the same core appeal.
