What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Lexus RX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The RX is available in base 350 form with standard and long-wheelbase body styles, while F Sport models add a more athletic appearance with 20-inch wheels, black-housing mirrors, dark window trim, F Sport badging, and a unique front fascia. The cabin also varies by trim, with F Sport models getting model-specific badging, Scored Aluminum trim, and NuLuxe synthetic leather, while non-F Sport models can be optioned with NuLuxe or semi-aniline leather and different trim pairings.
• Powertrain: The RX 350 uses a 3.5-litre V6 with 295 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, while the RX 450h hybrid adds two electric motors for a combined 308 hp. All models use an 8-speed automatic, and AWD is standard in Canada.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System 2.0+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning with steering assist, road-sign recognition, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, pre-collision braking with cyclist and pedestrian detection, and intelligent high beams. Standard equipment also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a head-up display, and a three-year trial of Lexus Enform Safety Connect. The Top Safety Pick result depends on the optional triple-beam LED headlights.
• Infotainment: Standard infotainment is an 8-inch touchscreen, with a 12.3-inch screen standard on the 450h L and optional on other trims. You also get Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, wireless charging, a WiFi hotspot, navigation with cloud-based updates, and Lexus App connectivity.
• Fuel efficiency: The RX 350 uses 12.2 L/100 km in city driving, 9.0 on the highway, and 10.8 combined. The RX 450h hybrid is rated at 7.5 L/100 km city, 8.4 highway, and 7.9 combined.

Which 2022 Lexus RX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Lexus RX is offered in 2 trim levels: 350 and 450h.

Here's the short version:

• 350: This is the core gas model and the best fit if you want the standard RX experience with the 3.5-litre V6, AWD, and the full comfort-first character that defines the lineup. It is the trim to focus on if you want the broadest used-market choice and do not need the hybrid’s efficiency advantage.
• 450h: This is the better pick if you want the hybrid powertrain, stronger fuel economy, and the available 12.3-inch touchscreen as standard on the long-wheelbase version. It suits you best if efficiency matters more than sticking with the base gas model.

The safety package is standard, but the Top Safety Pick result depends on the optional triple-beam LED headlights.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Lexus RX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 139 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.47% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $43,765 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Lexus RX's resale value?

The current average of $44,028 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,144 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the RX has become a bit easier for future buyers to access, which can help keep demand steady in the used market. For a seller, that means you may need to price competitively if you want to stand out, especially since the model’s current average is already close to its year-round low. Even so, the RX’s strong reputation for comfort, quality, and reliability should continue to support interest over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Lexus RX safe?

The 2022 Lexus RX has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but only if equipped with the optional triple-beam LED headlights. It earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side crash tests and four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover resistance.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System 2.0+ is standard, and it brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-departure warning with steering assist, road-sign recognition, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, pre-collision braking with cyclist and pedestrian detection, and intelligent high beams. You also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a head-up display, and a three-year trial of Lexus Enform Safety Connect. The main caveat is that the IIHS top-tier plus designation is missed because of the headlights rating.

Should I buy a 2022 Lexus RX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It is a carryover year with only minor changes, including new colours and a standalone fog lamps option.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $49,625 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $44,028 CAD average.
• The redesign adds more modern technology and broader updates.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2022 is the easier recommendation because it delivers the RX formula at a lower average price. If you are willing to spend more for a redesigned cabin and newer tech, the 2023 is the stronger upgrade path.

How does the 2022 Lexus RX compare to the 2022 Toyota Venza?

Our experts score the 2022 Lexus RX 7.3/10 and the 2022 Toyota Venza 8.5/10. The RX is the more powerful and more expensive choice, while the Venza offers better fuel economy and a lower average used price. The Venza also has a higher share of good and great deals, which may make it the easier value pick if you want efficiency over luxury performance.
