Used 2022 Land Rover Defender for Sale nearAbbotsford, BC

How much does the 2022 Land Rover Defender cost?

Prices have softened 13.37% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 102 listings available, which suggests you have some room to compare trims and prices.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Land Rover Defender earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.

It stands out as a rugged SUV that still feels modern, with two-door 90 and four-door 110 body styles, a distinctive design, and more polished road manners than many hardcore off-roaders. The trade-offs are clear: the touchscreen response is sluggish, and advanced safety features are not standard.

For shoppers who want capability with everyday usability, it lands in a strong middle ground. The market also shows 41.2% of listings as good or great deals, which supports its value case.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Defender is built around ruggedness, with standard four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, and off-road hardware that supports serious use. The expert review also describes it as comfortable on pavement, which matters if you plan to use it year-round rather than only on trails.

Its performance notes point to a durable, well-rounded setup, and the cost-effectiveness section highlights a four-year, 80,000-kilometre warranty plus roadside assistance. Land Rover also includes six years of corrosion coverage with unlimited kilometres.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a capable, complex SUV can be expensive to keep if prior maintenance has been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Land Rover Defender?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Defender’s base trim is the least equipped, while higher trims add more of the features that make it feel premium. The review also notes that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should check carefully which equipment is included on the specific vehicle you are considering.
• Powertrain: You can find a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six mild-hybrid, and a 5.0-litre supercharged V8. The four-cylinder and six-cylinder are adequate, while the V8 adds much stronger performance but uses more fuel.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist tech includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition with speed-limit adapter, and blind-spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control is optional.
• Infotainment: The standard Pivi Pro system includes a 10-inch central touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is standard on every trim level except the base model, and an 11.4-inch touchscreen is newly available for 2022.
• Fuel efficiency: The base four-cylinder Defender 90 is rated at 12.3 L/100 km combined, while the Defender 110 is rated at 13.0 L/100 km combined. The six-cylinder mild hybrid is rated at 12.3 L/100 km combined in both body styles. The V8 is rated at 14.3 L/100 km combined in the 90 and 14.7 L/100 km combined in the 110.

Which 2022 Land Rover Defender trim should I buy?

The 2022 Land Rover Defender is offered in 3 trim levels: Defender 90, Defender 110, and Defender 90 V8.

Here's the short version:

• Defender 90: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Defender experience at the lowest price. It suits you best if you want the core off-road character and can live without the extra equipment found on higher trims.
• Defender 110: This is the better all-round choice if you want more practicality and a broader everyday-use appeal. It keeps the Defender’s rugged personality while giving you the four-door layout that many shoppers will prefer.
• Defender 90 V8: This is the performance-focused choice, with the strongest engine and the most dramatic driving character. It also gets nearly every optional feature from lower trims, so it is the one to consider if you want the most complete and most powerful version.

The safety package is not fully loaded on every trim, so check each vehicle’s equipment list carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Land Rover Defender?

It looks like a buyer-friendly market if you are shopping carefully.

• Deal availability: 41.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 102 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.37% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $57,011 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Land Rover Defender's resale value?

The current average of $57,043 CAD sits slightly below last year's $65,844 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Defender more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Well-kept examples with desirable trims and strong equipment should hold up better than stripped or heavily used ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender safe?

The 2022 Land Rover Defender does not have published IIHS or NHTSA crash-test ratings.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist tech includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition with speed-limit adapter, and blind-spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control is optional.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used example you are considering.

Should I buy a 2022 Land Rover Defender or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 41.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds an optional 11.4-inch touchscreen, standard wireless phone charging, and a new V8 powertrain.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $62,980 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $57,043 CAD average.
• It adds the extended-length Defender 130 for more practicality.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better pick if you want the strongest mix of price, capability, and equipment. If you need more passenger or cargo flexibility and can spend more, the 2023 is worth a look.
