Used 2022 Kia Forte for Sale near Newfoundland and Labrador

How much does the 2022 Kia Forte cost?

Prices have softened 13.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 397 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Kia Forte a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia Forte earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating, which supports its appeal as a value-focused compact sedan. The model stands out as spacious and well equipped, and Kia updated it for 2022 with sharper styling plus new infotainment, driver-assist, and collision-avoidance systems. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Technology.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, and the cabin can be noisy. Even so, the Forte’s mix of room, modern equipment, and affordability makes it a strong fit if you want a compact sedan that feels more substantial than its price suggests.

With 30.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market.

Is the 2022 Kia Forte reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Kia positions the Forte as a practical, well-equipped compact sedan, and the expert review backs up that impression with strong marks for form and function, technology, and cost effectiveness. The standard warranty coverage is also a plus for used buyers, and the Forte LX can be had at a relatively accessible price point with efficient highway fuel use.

The performance side is less convincing on the lower trims, where the powertrain is described as underwhelming, but the overall package still points to a car that should be straightforward to live with. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the least expensive versions may feel a bit strained if you want more than basic commuting.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Forte?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the bare-bones version and comes without standard safety technology, while the EX+, EX Premium, GT-Line, and GT Limited add more equipment. The GT-Line brings a sportier look without sporty driving characteristics, and the GT Limited is the most desirable if you want the most fun and the most features.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. The LX gets a six-speed manual standard, while the CVT is optional on LX and standard elsewhere. The GT Limited uses a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 201 horsepower and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
• Safety package: The rest of the trim levels include forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver monitoring system. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and Highway Driving Assist are available depending on trim level, while the LX does not get standard safety technology.
• Infotainment: Lower trims with the EX Premium or lower get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. GT-Line and GT Limited use a 10.25-inch touchscreen, but CarPlay and Android Auto are wired on those trims. Kia Connect connected services, remote engine starting, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system are also part of the higher-spec setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-litre engine is rated at 7.6 L/100 km with the manual transmission and 7.0 L/100 km with the CVT. The LX is also noted for highway fuel efficiency as low as 5.9 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Kia Forte trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Forte is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, EX, EX+, EX Premium, GT-Line, and GT Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the cheapest way into the Forte, but it is also the most stripped-down. You get the basic car and the manual transmission standard, yet you miss out on the standard safety technology that comes on the rest of the range.
• EX: This is a sensible step up if you want a better-equipped Forte without chasing the pricier appearance or performance trims. It keeps the car focused on value and everyday usability.
• EX+: This is the version that gives you everything you need, and nothing you don’t. It is the best-value trim if you want the Forte’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not use.
• EX Premium: This trim is the one to choose if wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto matter to you. It pairs that convenience with the 8-inch touchscreen and keeps the Forte’s tech story strong.
• GT-Line: This trim adds a sportier look, but not sporty driving characteristics. It makes sense if you want the more aggressive styling and the larger touchscreen without moving all the way to the top.
• GT Limited: This is the one you want for the most fun. It brings the turbocharged engine, the most distinctive styling, and the richest feature set, but it also comes with the trade-offs noted in the expert review.

The LX lacks standard safety technology, while the rest of the range includes the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Forte?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 397 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.40% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,837 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Forte's resale value?

The current average of $17,837 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,597 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Forte is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly. If you own one and plan to sell, you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially against other compact sedans with similar equipment.

The good news is that the Forte’s value proposition remains strong because it offers a lot of equipment for the money. That can help support demand, particularly for better-equipped trims that feel more substantial than their price suggests.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Forte safe?

The 2022 Kia Forte earns a four-star overall crash protection rating from NHTSA, with a three-star frontal impact rating for the front passenger.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety package on most trims includes forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver monitoring system. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and Highway Driving Assist are available on some trims.

The main caveat is that the bare-bones LX does not get standard safety technology, and the NHTSA result is not as strong as you would want from a family sedan.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Forte or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert highlight: Kia updated this year’s Forte with sharper styling and new infotainment, driver-assist, and collision-avoidance systems.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $20,159 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $17,837 CAD average.
• It adds a more comfortable, well-rounded feel with a manual transmission still available.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better pick if you want the strongest value and the most attractive current pricing. If you can spend more and want a slightly more polished alternative, the 2023 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2022.
