CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Hyundai Tucson
overall

Summary
With 151 currently listed for sale and an average price of $22,799 CAD, 33.1% of 2022 Hyundai Tucson listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Hyundai Tucson 4.82 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson stands out first for its redesign, which made it longer and wider than before and gave it more cargo and passenger space. That extra room is a major part of its appeal in the compact SUV class, especially for buyers who want a practical family vehicle without moving up to something larger.
Hyundai also gave the 2022 Tucson a high-tech cabin, a comfortable ride, a competent engine lineup, and a spacious cargo area. Those strengths make it a well-rounded choice for shoppers who value comfort and everyday usability as much as style and features. At the same time, some owners have noted that engine power can feel lacking and that they would like more cargo space or larger cupholders, so it is not the most powerful or most generous in every respect.

I love all the bells and whistles! The ability to set all your personal preferences-seat settings, heat/air,radio,phone,dash board view, and with your name! The blind spots are nice. It was a great deal with decent low mileage, limited AWD, I got more for my money. Fully covered with great warrantys

I LOVE this car! I researched and waited for the right one for months! I am so pleased with how smooth it drives and the fancy features! My know knock would be the lack of power. It doesn’t accelerate very quickly but I didn’t really expect it to. Overall I’m obsessed and can’t wait to drive it for many years to come

| Current Average Price | $22,832 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $22,832 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $26,986 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $26,980 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −15.38% |
Prices have softened 15.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 477 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.82/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, excellent safety features, stylish design, comfort, and spacious interior. That lines up well with the Tucson’s role as a practical compact SUV for commuting, errands, and family duties, especially if you want a modern cabin and everyday usability. 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson reliable?
Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they are extremely satisfied with their Tucson. The expert assessment also describes the Tucson as competent and well rounded, which supports the idea that it should be easy to live with over the long term. Hyundai’s 5-year/100,000-kilometre limited warranty adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers, though you should still check service history and condition carefully because long-term ownership risk always depends on how the vehicle was maintained.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Essential trim is the most basic version, while Preferred adds features such as blind-spot monitoring indicators and turn signals, heated outside mirrors, front aero wipers, and keyless entry. Higher grades add more premium touches, including a panoramic sunroof on equipped models, so base-trim feature gaps matter if you want a more complete daily-driver setup.
- Powertrain: You can choose between a 2.5-litre direct-injected four-cylinder engine and a hybrid powertrain with a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. The gas engine is described as capable and competent but uninspiring, while the hybrid brings more power and stronger efficiency.
- Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes standard forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, and rear occupant alert. Cyclist and pedestrian detection is added at the Preferred grade, and additional available features include blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and a surround-view camera system.
- Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and two USB ports. Preferred adds satellite radio, Blue Link mobile app compatibility, rear USB outlets, rear air conditioning vents, and dual-zone automatic climate control, while a 10.25-inch screen with navigation is available on higher trims.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive gas model is targeted at 8.2 L/100 km combined, while the all-wheel-drive gas model is targeted at 9.0 L/100 km combined. The hybrid is rated at 6.4 L/100 km combined.
Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 5 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, N Line, Luxury, and Ultimate.
Here's the short version:
- Essential: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Tucson’s core redesign, standard tech, and practical space at the lowest price. It is the trim to consider if you care most about value and can live without the extra convenience and safety upgrades found higher up.
- Preferred: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds meaningful everyday upgrades such as blind-spot monitoring indicators, heated outside mirrors, keyless entry, rear air vents, dual-zone climate control, and more connected tech. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
- N Line: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance and the more distinctive cabin treatment, including sport combination seats and unique wheel design. It is the right pick if style matters more to you than maximum value.
- Luxury: This trim is the better fit if you want to move closer to a more premium feel, especially in the hybrid lineup where it brings more upscale equipment and 19-inch wheels.
- Ultimate: This is the top choice if you want the most fully equipped Tucson, especially in hybrid form, and are willing to pay for the most complete feature set.
The safety package is especially comprehensive, and the Preferred grade is notable because it adds cyclist and pedestrian detection to the standard suite.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 477 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 15.38% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $22,832 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?
The current average of $22,832 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,980 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Tucson has become more accessible to used buyers, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract interest if they price competitively. The current market also shows a fairly broad spread between the low and high end of the year-round range, so condition, trim, and equipment will matter when you eventually resell. Strong owner satisfaction helps too, because shoppers tend to respond well to models with a good reputation for comfort and practicality.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson safe?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has not been tested and rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA).

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 15.38% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The redesign gives you more space, a high-tech cabin, and a well-rounded compact SUV package.
The bottom line: The 2022 Tucson is a strong choice if you want the redesigned model with more space, better tech, and a softer used-market price than it had a year ago. If you are price-sensitive, this year looks especially appealing because the market has cooled enough to create some negotiating room, while still giving you the core strengths that make the Tucson attractive in the first place.
