Is the 2022 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.7/5 model, and the expert rating is 7/10. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, spaciousness, and driving experience, and they also highlight how versatile it is for families, especially on long trips. That lines up well with the Odyssey’s family-first use case: you get a minivan that is easy to live with, practical for passengers and cargo, and still pleasant behind the wheel. Good and great deals make up 33.8% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core package and more about whether a given example was maintained well and equipped with the features you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Odyssey?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Touring trim adds dark gray 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, and a more upscale feel, while lower trims may leave you wanting features such as automatic doors and more convenient storage.
• Powertrain: Every Odyssey uses a 3.5-litre V6 with a 10-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, and there is no all-wheel-drive or electrified option.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on all trims and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are reserved for Touring.
• Infotainment: Starting with EX-L Navi, you get an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Touring adds navigation, HondaLink connected services with WiFi hotspot access, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, and a rear entertainment system with a 10.2-inch screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The Natural Resources Canada estimate is 10.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the road test average was 10.4 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Odyssey is offered in 3 trim levels: EX-L Navi, EX-L Res, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• EX-L Navi: This is the trim to focus on if you want the core Odyssey experience with the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, Bluetooth, and built-in navigation without stretching to the top model.
• EX-L Res: Choose this if you want the same family-friendly foundation but place more value on rear-seat entertainment and long-trip convenience.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim if you want the fullest feature set, including HondaLink connected services, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, the rear entertainment system, wireless charging, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are only included on Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Odyssey?

It looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 139 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.08% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,021 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $37,021 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,173 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays competitive. The year-over-year decline suggests the Odyssey is not commanding the same pricing strength it did a year ago, so condition, mileage, and equipment will matter more when you eventually resell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2022 Honda Odyssey earns an overall five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on all trims and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are only available on Touring.

One caveat is that the system can feel abrupt in use, and the blind-spot warning light placement is less intuitive than it should be. That means you should still test the driver-assistance behaviour carefully on your own roads before you buy.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the familiar, enjoyable-to-drive Odyssey formula without changes.

Consider the 2021 if:

• It adds a refreshed, family-focused package with improved safety, upgraded technology, and enhanced utility.

The bottom line: If you want the most familiar, proven version of the Odyssey and you value a softer used-market price, the 2022 is the straightforward pick. If you’re mainly chasing value and can find a well-kept 2021 with the features you want, that year’s refreshed package is worth a look.
