Used 2022 GMC Terrain for Sale nearLaval, QC

How much does the 2022 GMC Terrain cost?

Prices have softened 13.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 377 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain a good car?

Yes — the 2022 GMC Terrain earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, smooth driving experience, and confidence in snowy conditions, and they also value its safety features and easy-to-use technology. The Terrain’s wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto fit well with its relaxed, practical personality.

The trade-offs are clear: the powertrain is sluggish, and the interior materials can feel cheap. It suits you best if you want a comfortable, straightforward compact SUV rather than something sporty or especially premium. With 26.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still a decent amount of market flexibility.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially those who value comfort and all-wheel-drive confidence in poor weather. The Terrain’s smooth, easygoing character also supports the sense that it is a vehicle you can count on day to day.

Its powertrain is described as durable enough for regular use, with the turbocharged 1.5-litre engine and nine-speed automatic doing their job without drama. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright reliability and more about whether you will be satisfied with the modest performance and lower-rent cabin feel over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Terrain?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SLE and SLT are the more affordable choices, while the AT4 adds a bolder grille, black 17-inch alloy wheels, sport-terrain tyres, and a steel front skid plate. The Denali adds a layer of luxury, and the AT4’s rugged look should not be mistaken for genuine off-road ability.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 Terrain uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard on some trims, while all-wheel drive is available or standard depending on trim.
• Safety package: GMC Pro Safety is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance indicator. GMC Pro Safety Plus adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, rear parking sensors, and a Safety Alert Seat; it is standard on Denali.
• Infotainment: SLE gets a 7-inch touchscreen, while SLT, AT4, and Denali use an 8-inch high-definition touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the larger screen can be paired with connected navigation and a Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada rating is 9.6 L/100 km in the city, 8.3 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.0 L/100 km combined with all-wheel drive.

Which 2022 GMC Terrain trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Terrain is offered in 4 trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SLE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the core Terrain experience with the standard 7-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the full standard safety package. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and do not need the extra equipment on higher trims.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger 8-inch touchscreen and more available equipment while still staying below the AT4 and Denali. If you want a more polished daily driver without paying for the rugged styling or luxury extras, this is the trim to target.
• AT4: This is the trim for you if you want the Terrain’s toughest-looking appearance, standard all-wheel drive, and the added traction hardware. It is the right pick if the styling and winter-weather confidence matter more to you than outright performance or off-road ability.
• Denali: This is the most upscale version, and it is the one to choose if you want the most premium-feeling Terrain with the most standard equipment. It also gets the upgraded safety package as standard.

The standard GMC Pro Safety package is on every trim, while GMC Pro Safety Plus is standard on Denali and available on SLE, SLT, and AT4.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Terrain?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 377 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.66% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $24,663 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $24,663 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,565 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Terrain has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier to move if you price it competitively later. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to be realistic about expectations, especially if your vehicle is not especially well equipped or exceptionally clean.

On the other hand, a model with strong owner satisfaction can still hold attention from shoppers who value comfort and easy-to-use tech. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain safe?

The 2022 Terrain earns mostly “Good” crash-test scores from the IIHS, but it also receives a “Marginal” rating in the new side-impact test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2022 Terrain comes with GMC Pro Safety, which includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance indicator. GMC Pro Safety Plus adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, rear parking sensors, and a Safety Alert Seat; it is standard on Denali and optional on SLE, SLT, and AT4.

The main caveat is that the IIHS side-impact result is weaker than the rest of the vehicle’s crash-test performance, and a lane-centring function is not available.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds the AT4 trim, which gives the Terrain a more rugged look and standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the Terrain with the newer AT4 personality and you value comfort, simple tech, and all-wheel-drive confidence, the 2022 is the right year to target. If you are mainly shopping on price, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2022’s softer pricing and strong owner satisfaction make it a sensible used buy.
