CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Chevrolet Colorado
Summary
With 38 currently listed for sale and an average price of $30,841 CAD, 28.9% of 2022 Chevrolet Colorado listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado 4.5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado stands out as a midsize pickup that balances capability with everyday usability. Chevrolet had redesigned it into a third generation for 2023, so the 2022 model belongs to the previous generation and reflects the more established formula that made the Colorado appealing in the first place: a good blend of comfort and utility, a selection of capable powertrains, and strong towing ability. It also remained a more manageable size than a full-size Silverado, which helps if you want a truck that is easier to live with in tighter spaces.
What makes the 2022 Colorado especially distinctive is how much it offers in its higher trims. The second-generation truck could be had with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder, a 3.6-litre V6, or, on higher trims, a 2.8-litre Duramax Diesel with 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. That diesel brought class-leading 3,500 kilograms of towing capacity and as little as 9.4 L/100 km on the highway, while the ZR2 added serious off-road hardware such as Multimatic DSSV Damping System, increased ground clearance and track width, and larger all-terrain tyres. The cabin was also better equipped than earlier Colorado interiors, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the larger screen from the start, and later low-trim trucks gaining a 7-inch screen and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.
The main drawback is that the 2022 Colorado still carries some of the second generation’s baggage. Chevrolet’s eight-speed automatic had recurring issues in models built from 2014 to 2019, and even a few later ones, and the truck’s active safety systems were not as broad or as strong as Toyota’s standard offerings in that era. Even so, the Colorado remained a solid value, especially in mid-range and high trims, where its mix of performance, brawn, and available diesel efficiency made it one of the more appealing used pickups in its class.

I really like the exterior aesthetic of this truck. It has an aggressive front-end styling and some key features to allow for some mild off-roading with no major modifications needed. Interior is very nice too, with leather seats and ZR2 badging on headrests. I can’t wait to drive it!

The only issue I have, is that the temperature can only be read on the radio Home Screen so you have to exit Apple CarPlay to see the outside temp. Would be nice to be able to just look down by the speedometer and see it.

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback describes it as smooth, dependable, and capable, with owners appreciating its towing strength and everyday usability. That said, some shoppers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and feature operation, since used-truck ownership risk often comes down to how well the previous owner maintained the vehicle.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Colorado?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.
- Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 162 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.70% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $33,453 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?
The current average of $35,982 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,696 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale expectations should be measured rather than aggressive. If you plan to sell later, the current market suggests you may not recover as much as buyers paid a year ago. Even so, the Colorado’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it is time to move on.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.70% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $43,694 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $35,982 CAD average.
- The redesign adds a crew-cab-only layout with updated tech and stronger off-road focus.
The bottom line:
Choose the 2022 if you want a more affordable Colorado with proven appeal, especially if you value a lower entry price and solid owner satisfaction. Consider the 2023 if you want the newer redesign and are willing to pay more for updated technology and a more modern truck layout.
