What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura MDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX gives you standard Jewel Eye LED headlights, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a premium-feeling cabin, but the Tech grade adds navigation and a stronger audio system, while higher trims bring more luxury and convenience features.
• Powertrain: You get one engine choice: a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 with 290 horsepower, paired with a 10-speed automatic and standard Super Handling All-Wheel Drive in Canada.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard on all MDX models and includes collision mitigation emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, blind spot monitoring, and traffic-jam assist.
• Infotainment: All models get a 12.3-inch landscape-oriented infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Qi-compatible wireless charging, built-in Alexa, OTA updates, and a WiFi hotspot. The screen is not a touchscreen.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2022 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: MDX, Tech, A-Spec, and Platinum Elite.

Here's the short version:

• MDX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core MDX experience: standard SH-AWD, the 12.3-inch infotainment display, wireless smartphone integration, and the full AcuraWatch safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
• Tech: This is the best-value trim. It adds navigation and a better ELS audio system, and the source material specifically calls it the sweet spot in the lineup. If you want the most balanced mix of equipment and price, this is the one to target.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want the sportiest appearance and the upgraded ELS Studio 3D Premium Audio System. It also adds CabinTalk, which may matter if you regularly carry passengers in the second and third rows.
• Platinum Elite: This is the luxury-focused choice, with the most premium equipment, including the head-up display and surround-view camera system. It suits you best if you want the most fully loaded MDX.

AcuraWatch is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up trims for the core safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 109 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,920 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $42,459 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,288 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if market conditions stay similar. The current trend suggests the MDX is not in a rising-price cycle, so holding value will depend more on condition, mileage, and trim desirability than on broad market momentum. Well-equipped trims with strong appeal should still attract attention, especially if they are priced near the lower end of the range.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX safe?

The 2022 Acura MDX earns a Top Safety Pick + rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch is standard on all MDX models and includes collision mitigation emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, blind spot monitoring, and traffic-jam assist. The MDX also adds low-speed braking control with front and rear parking sensors, plus collision mitigation throttle control.

Should I buy a 2022 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new platform, fresh design, and a more assertive fourth-generation update.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $47,382 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $42,459 CAD average.
• It adds a more modern “Precision Crafted Performance” feel.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better buy if you want the strongest mix of price, satisfaction, and fresh redesign value. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2023 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2022’s softer market and broader deal availability.
