What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Acura MDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX gets standard Jewel Eye LED headlights, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, and a premium-feeling cabin, but it uses the simpler nine-speaker audio system. Higher trims add more luxury and tech, with the A-Spec and Platinum Elite getting the top ELS Studio 3D Premium Audio System.
• Powertrain: You get one engine choice: a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 with 290 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic. All Canadian models use Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, and the system’s torque vectoring is a key part of the MDX’s sharper handling.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard, with collision mitigation emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, blind spot monitoring, and traffic-jam assist.
• Infotainment: Every MDX gets a 12.3-inch landscape-oriented infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Qi-compatible wireless charging, built-in Amazon Alexa, a WiFi hotspot, and over-the-air software updates. Navigation is standard on Tech and above.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2022 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: MDX, Tech, A-Spec, and Platinum Elite.

Here's the short version:

• MDX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core MDX experience: standard SH-AWD, the 12.3-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone integration, and the full AcuraWatch safety suite. It makes sense if you want the least expensive way into the model and can live without the extra luxury and audio upgrades.
• Tech: This is the best-value trim. It adds navigation and the upgraded ELS Studio audio system, which makes it the sweet spot if you want the most useful everyday equipment without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• A-Spec: Choose this if you want the sportiest appearance and the top ELS Studio 3D Premium Audio System. It suits you best if style and sound matter more than pure value.
• Platinum Elite: This is the luxury-focused choice, with the most premium equipment in the lineup, including the head-up display and surround-view camera system. It’s the right pick if you want the most complete MDX experience and are willing to pay for it.

The standard AcuraWatch safety package is included across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim for core driver assistance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 102 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.08% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,924 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $43,279 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,600 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the MDX more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, that means resale value may be steadier if you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition. The model’s broad appeal, premium positioning, and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Acura MDX safe?

The 2022 Acura MDX earns a Top Safety Pick + rating from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The AcuraWatch suite is standard on all MDX models and includes collision mitigation emergency braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor, expanded pedestrian detection capability, blind spot monitoring, and traffic-jam assist. The MDX also adds low-speed braking control with sonar-based object detection and autonomous braking support, plus collision mitigation throttle control.

One caveat is that NHTSA has not yet rated this model year.

Should I buy a 2022 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new platform, sharper design, and a more refined driving feel.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $47,586 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $43,279 CAD average.
• It adds a more polished and confidence-inspiring feel.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better buy if you want the strongest mix of value, freshness, and owner satisfaction. If you can stretch for the 2023, you may prefer its slightly more polished presentation, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2022.
