Which 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is offered in 4 trim levels: GLC 300, AMG GLC 43, AMG GLC 63, and AMG GLC 63 S.

Here's the short version:

• GLC 300: This is the trim most shoppers should start with because it delivers the core GLC experience: strong standard equipment, the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, 4MATIC all-wheel drive, and the refined ride and cabin quality that define the model. It’s the best-value choice if you want the GLC’s comfort and tech without chasing performance upgrades.
• AMG GLC 43: Choose this if you want a much stronger powertrain and a more performance-focused setup. It adds a more potent engine, 20-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, and sport seats, so it suits you if driving feel matters more than outright value.
• AMG GLC 63: This is the most aggressive version in the lineup, with the same performance-oriented upgrades as the 43 plus the extra Premium Rear Seat Package. It makes sense if you want maximum performance and more rear-seat comfort features.
• AMG GLC 63 S: This is the top performance model, with the most powerful engine in the range and the same high-end package structure. It’s for you if you want the most extreme GLC and are willing to pay for it.

For safety-minded shoppers, the Intelligent Drive Package is the key trim-level safety add-on to look for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 346 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.70% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,549 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC's resale value?

The current average of $33,549 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,276 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the GLC more attractive to used buyers today but less favourable for a future seller trying to recover a higher purchase price. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less depreciation left to absorb than someone who bought when prices were higher. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand, but resale will still depend on condition, mileage, and equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC safe?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

To equip the GLC with its best safety tech, such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, dynamic cruise control, and lane departure warning, Canadians need to purchase the $2,700 Intelligent Drive Package. Parking sensors and hands-free parking assist are part of the Premium Plus Package.

We found the parking and proximity sensors to be overly sensitive, which can be distracting in traffic, though they can be deactivated if desired.

Should I buy a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its upscale cabin, strong tech, and balanced driving character.

The bottom line: The 2021 GLC makes sense if you want a well-equipped compact luxury SUV with a strong mix of comfort, technology, and refinement. If you’re price-sensitive, the current market softness gives you a better chance to find a good deal, but you should still prioritise condition and equipment because the best-value examples will move quickly.
