For this generation, the RX kept its comfort-first character even as Lexus made major changes to the lineup. The RX 350 moved to a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, while the RX 350h hybrid used a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid setup with standard all-wheel drive. Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard across the range, and the RX also includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist. Fuel consumption is another strength, with the RX 350 rated at 9.9 litres per 100 kilometres combined and the RX 350h at 6.5 L/100 km combined.
There are trade-offs, though. Handling remains tuned more for comfort than performance, and even the sportier versions are not especially sporty. The F Sport suspension can also hurt ride comfort without delivering much of a handling payoff. Still, for buyers who value a quiet, well-equipped, and dependable luxury SUV, the 2021 Lexus RX makes a strong case for itself.
