Is the 2021 Jeep Gladiator a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Gladiator earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, off-road capability, and unique design, and they also appreciate the comfortable interior. For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a midsize pickup that feels more adventurous and distinctive than a conventional truck. The market also shows 25.1% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Jeep Gladiator reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many buyers, with repeated praise for ruggedness and the kind of durability you’d expect from a Jeep built for adventure. The diesel powertrain adds substantial low-end grunt, and the truck’s character suggests it’s built for long-term use rather than short-term novelty. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that the Gladiator’s specialised nature can make it less forgiving if you want low running costs or a simple daily driver.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Gladiator?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Gladiator starts with a simple setup, and the base truck comes with a reversing camera and not much else. Higher trims add more comfort and capability, while the Willys grade brings a blacked-out grille, limited-slip rear differential, rock rails, and 32-inch all-terrain tires.
• Powertrain: You can choose between the 3.6-litre Pentastar gasoline V6 and the 3.0-litre EcoDiesel turbo-diesel V6. The diesel delivers strong low-end torque and better fuel efficiency, while the gas engine remains the standard option.
• Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite can include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. Base trims are much more limited.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes the Uconnect 4 system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Higher trims can get the 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C system with navigation, and the Alpine premium sound system is available.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returned 10.4 L/100 km in testing, while the standard V6 returned 11.6 L/100 km in mostly highway driving.

Which 2021 Jeep Gladiator trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Gladiator is offered in 5 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Willys, Overland, and High Altitude.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it’s very bare-bones, so it makes sense mainly if you want the lowest starting price and plan to add equipment later.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday usability while keeping the Gladiator’s core character intact.
• Willys: This is the one to choose if you want a more trail-ready look and hardware, including the limited-slip rear differential, rock rails, and 32-inch all-terrain tires.
• Overland: This trim suits you if you want a more polished cabin and a better-equipped feel without moving all the way to the luxury end of the range.
• High Altitude: This is the upscale choice, with body-colour detailing, black 20-inch wheels, and premium Nappa leather.

The safety package is still optional or equipment-dependent on lower trims, so make sure the truck you’re considering has the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Gladiator?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 25.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 199 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.60% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,229 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Gladiator's resale value?

The current average of $38,229 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,245 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Gladiator more approachable for you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and equipment than it would be in a stronger market. Well-equipped examples with desirable features should still draw attention, especially because the Gladiator has a loyal audience.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Gladiator safe?

The 2021 Jeep Gladiator earns a four-star frontal-impact rating from NHTSA and three-star rollover resistance ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

In standard form, you get a reversing camera and little else, so you’ll want to look for a truck equipped with the available driver-assistance suite. That suite can include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is especially useful because the side mirrors are narrow.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Gladiator or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 25.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model adds a new turbo-diesel engine option and available full-time four-wheel drive, which broadens its appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the Gladiator’s distinctive open-air personality and you value the added diesel and drivetrain flexibility, the 2021 is the one to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully within this year’s inventory and focus on the best-equipped examples that match your needs.
