The car is/was a good value. The electric vehicle offering is compelling, and Hyundai is overcoming many objections with the Kona EV lines. The car I drove was a basic tri,m and I'm looking for the ultimate level - give me all the bells and whistles. This car wasn't it, but I'm confident I will find the used Kona EV I'm looking for.

Good value from a solid and committed company. Good range. Its worth every penny not to support the fossil fuel industry with my transportation any longer.

The 2021 Kona Electric is a good compromise for those who want an electric car but cant afford a Tesla. The Teslas have a little more range and charge faster, but that may not be worth an additional $20K. This car is a good value.

Is the 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its value, good range, and fun driving experience, and many see it as a solid alternative to pricier electric options. The market also shows 22% of listings as good or great deals, which adds to its appeal if you are shopping carefully.
Is the 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric reliable?

The owner feedback suggests this is a vehicle people feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to value and day-to-day dependability. That said, the more complex electronic controls may take some getting used to if you prefer a simpler setup. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright satisfaction and more about whether the technology and interface suit your preferences.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

What is the 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric's resale value?
The current average of $19,988 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,244 CAD.
That softer pricing can work in your favour now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays competitive. A lower current entry price can help keep demand steady, especially for shoppers comparing used EVs on value. Strong owner satisfaction should also help support interest when it is time to resell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 22% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.14% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $24,107 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $19,988 CAD average.
- It adds new exterior features and a streamlined trim lineup.
The bottom line: Choose the 2021 if you want the better value and are comfortable shopping a market with some deal opportunities. Consider the 2022 if you are willing to pay more for a fresher package and a more streamlined lineup, but price-sensitive buyers will likely find the 2021 the smarter buy.
