How much does the 2021 Hyundai Elantra cost?

There are 589 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Hyundai Elantra earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, great fuel economy, and comfortable seating. The model also comes across as strong value for the price, with attractive features that make it feel more polished than a basic compact sedan.

That fits the Elantra’s role well if you want an affordable daily driver that feels more sophisticated than many rivals. With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with praise for its smooth ride, great fuel economy, and comfortable seating. The same feedback also highlights strong value, which usually matters to buyers who plan to keep a car for the long haul.

Hyundai’s 5-year/100,000 km limited warranty and five years of free roadside assistance add peace of mind for used buyers. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about basic dependability and more about whether the specific car was maintained well and equipped the way you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Hyundai Elantra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model is the main feature gap to watch for, since every 2021 Elantra except the base model gets SmartSense, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and Safe Exit Warning. Higher trims also bring a nicer, more high-tech cabin, and the Ultimate stands out for its more upscale interior presentation.
• Powertrain: The standard car uses a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine with either a 6-speed manual or CVT, while the hybrid uses a 1.6-litre Atkinson-cycle engine with an electric motor and a 6-speed dry dual-clutch automatic. The standard engine is fine around town, but it feels comparatively weak for highway passing.
• Safety package: SmartSense includes forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assistance, automatic high-beam headlights, and driver attention warning. Higher trims add blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, Safe Exit Warning, cyclist detection, junction turning assistance, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, rear automatic braking, and Highway Drive Assist.
• Infotainment: Most models get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ultimate can be equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen and 10.25-inch digital instrumentation, plus navigation and 64-colour ambient lighting, but you lose wireless smartphone integration with that larger screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard car is rated at 7.8 L/100 km combined with the manual, 6.4 L/100 km with the CVT, and 6.7 L/100 km on upper grades. The hybrid is rated at 4.4 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2021 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 4 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, N Line, and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Elantra and can live without the extra safety and convenience features found higher up.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more of the features that make the Elantra feel modern, while staying below the sportier and more expensive upper trims.
• N Line: Choose this if you want the turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, the 7-speed dry DCT with paddle shifters, sport suspension tuning, quicker steering, larger front brakes, and 18-inch wheels.
• Ultimate: Pick this if you want the most upscale version, with the nicest cabin presentation, the available 10.25-inch touchscreen and digital cluster, navigation, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and the strongest overall tech feel.

Safety-package note: every 2021 Elantra except the base model gets SmartSense, plus blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Hyundai Elantra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 589 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.65% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,561 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $17,561 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,103 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, condition, mileage, and equipment.

Because the Elantra has strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal as a practical compact sedan, demand should remain healthy for well-kept examples. Higher-spec trims and cars with desirable tech or safety equipment may hold buyer interest better than bare-bones versions.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2021 Elantra earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai’s SmartSense suite is standard on every 2021 Elantra except the base model, and it includes forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assistance, automatic high-beam headlights, and driver attention warning. Higher trims also add blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, Safe Exit Warning, cyclist detection, junction turning assistance, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, rear automatic braking, and Highway Drive Assist.

The main safety caveat is that the base model misses several of those driver-assistance features, so you’ll want to check trim carefully if safety tech matters to you most.

Should I buy a 2021 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings style, sophistication, space, and sportiness to the compact-sedan class.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $14,663 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $17,561 CAD average.
• It leans hard into value and adds improved fuel efficiency and newly packaged safety features.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $18,665 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $17,561 CAD average.
• It adds stylish design, a roomy cabin, excellent fuel economy, and strong standard safety tech.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the best all-around choice if you want the redesigned Elantra’s stronger mix of style, tech, and refinement. If your priority is saving money above all else, the 2020 is the cheaper path, while the 2022 is worth a look if you want a slightly newer take with similarly strong value.
