CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Honda Ridgeline
overall

Summary
With 78 currently listed for sale and an average price of $37,205 CAD, 17.9% of 2021 Honda Ridgeline listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Honda Ridgeline 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7 / 10.
Why it stands out
With the 2021 Honda Ridgeline, Honda adds a hefty dose of truck personality to an already appealing midsize crew cab pickup. The main draw is that styling, packaging, and functionality changes give it a more truck-like appearance, which should help it stand out to buyers who want a pickup that looks the part without giving up the Ridgeline’s established appeal.
Owners also tend to praise the 2021 Honda Ridgeline for its comfort, ride quality, spacious interior, and smooth driving experience. Its innovative truck bed and cargo space are recurring strengths as well. On the other hand, some owners would like to see more safety equipment, particularly blind spot indicators and lane change warnings.

This is a great design for someone who needs a truck but not a 1/2 ton pickup. I am very happy with the way it drives and the technology that is included. I haven’t towed anything with it yet but I am confident that it will do what I need. I bought the RTL model because it had leather interior and a Sirius radio. II guess the most direct comparison will be the Hyundai Santa Cruz or the Ford Marverick. However it is more capable in many woes over those two models.

2021 Ridgeline RTL-E - Loaded with great features and very comfortable to drive. Great visibility. Lots of cargo space. Drives like a big car. Great for winter driving with AWD. This is my second Ridgeline. Drove a 2013 for 10 years. Loved it. Loving this one too. Perfect for someone who wants a truck but doesnt need the size of something like a F250.

I decided on the Honda Ridgeline. I have to say, in terms of refinement, sophistication, features, driveability, interior space, etc., Honda is light years ahead of the competition [Tacoma, Ranger and Canyon/Colorado]. The Tacoma and Ranger were pretty similar, but I think Ford upped their game lately – more so than Toyota. The GMC/Chev trucks are bottom of the barrel, not worth considering. I would concede that – if someone is looking first and foremost for serious off-roading features/capability, trucks along the lines of the Tacoma will top of their list. However, for me -- valuing year round city/highway driveability over off-roading adventures -- the Ridgeline makes a lot of sense.

| Year-Round Low | $36,570 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $41,092 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $41,092 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.52% |
Prices have softened 9.52% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 76 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.
Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Honda Ridgeline earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its comfort, ride quality, spacious interior, smooth driving experience, and innovative truck bed and cargo space. That lines up well with the Ridgeline’s use case as a pickup that gives you truck utility without giving up everyday comfort and practicality.
The current market also shows 17.1% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for comfort, ride quality, and features that make the truck easy to live with over the long term. The expert assessment also describes it as a strong daily driver, which supports the idea that it should be easy to count on for regular use.
Honda’s standard maintenance and the Ridgeline’s reputation for practical, everyday usability should help reduce ownership stress, though you should still inspect any used example carefully for wear, service history, and signs of hard use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Sport trim is the only one with cloth seats, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment. The Ridgeline’s cabin is functional and easy to clean, but the base setup is still fairly simple for the price.
- Powertrain: Every Ridgeline uses a 280-horsepower V6 with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. It is smooth and refined, but it is not a rock-crawling off-roader.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centring assistance. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not offered in Canada.
- Infotainment: Every model gets an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, text-messaging capability, basic HondaLink connected services, wireless smartphone charging, and USB charging ports. Higher trims add SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, navigation, voice recognition, traffic information, and a premium sound system.
- Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the available data.
Which 2021 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Black Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the value-focused choice if you want the Ridgeline’s core strengths without paying for extra luxury features. You still get the V6, standard AWD, the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, and Honda Sensing.
- EX-L: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of comfort and equipment without jumping to the top end. It should suit you best if you want a more upscale daily driver.
- Touring: Choose this if you want the added convenience and tech upgrades, including navigation, traffic information, voice recognition, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a premium sound system.
- Black Edition: Pick this if you want the most upscale presentation and the most fully equipped version of the Ridgeline.
Honda Sensing is standard on every trim, so you do not need to move up the range for the core safety suite.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right truck.
- Deal availability: 17.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 76 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.52% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $36,570 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
The current average of $37,182 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,092 CAD.
That softer pricing can work in your favour if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure. For resale, the Ridgeline’s strong practicality and broad appeal as a comfortable daily driver should help support demand.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline safe?
The 2021 Honda Ridgeline earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, and it received a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is standard on every Ridgeline and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centring assistance. The truck also includes a multi-angle reversing camera and automatic high-beam headlights.
One caveat to keep in mind is that the redesigned front end lowered the truck’s IIHS score in the small overlap front passenger-side crash test. Owners also noted that some safety features they wanted, such as blind spot indicators and lane change warnings, are missing.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 17.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.52% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 update gives the Ridgeline a more truck-like appearance.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $40,523 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $37,182 CAD average.
- It carries over essentially unchanged after the 2021 facelift.
The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2021 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a meaningful facelift. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year with the same basic formula, the 2022 is the simpler alternative.
