Is the 2021 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

With 40.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a compelling offer.

Is the 2021 Honda Odyssey reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centred on space, safety, and family usefulness. The expert evaluation also describes the Odyssey’s V6 and automatic transmission as a terrific combination, with smooth, effortless power and fuel-saving cylinder management. Honda also says the new electronic brake booster supports stop-and-go low-speed following capability in traffic.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you should still verify maintenance history and test the brakes carefully, since heavy use can expose wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Odyssey?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trims get standard LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation, while the Touring trim adds a more upscale look with perforated leather upholstery, contrast stitching and piping, dashboard ambient lighting, and new 19-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with a 10-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. It delivers smooth, effortless power, but all-wheel drive is unavailable.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, pedestrian braking, road-sign recognition, and a dashboard menu button for ADAS settings. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning still requires the Touring trim.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HD Radio, text-messaging support, basic HondaLink connectivity, and a Cabin Control smartphone app. Touring adds navigation, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, wireless smartphone charging, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says it should use 10.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the test loop returned 10.8 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Odyssey is offered in 4 trim levels: EX-RES, EX-L Navi, EX-L RES, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• EX-RES: This is the entry point if you want the Odyssey’s core family-friendly packaging, standard safety tech, and rear-seat entertainment without moving up the price ladder.
• EX-L Navi: Choose this if you want navigation added to the standard formula and prefer a more convenience-focused middle ground.
• EX-L RES: This is the better-value pick if rear-seat entertainment matters more than navigation, since it adds the entertainment system while staying below Touring.
• Touring: This is the best-equipped trim, adding the most upscale cabin touches, the 11-speaker premium audio system, multi-zone listening, wireless smartphone charging, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning is reserved for Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Odyssey?

It looks like a buyer-friendly moment if you want to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 99 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.06% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $35,522 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $37,318 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,718 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you buy now, because you may be entering the market after some of the initial depreciation has already played out. For a future seller, the current trend suggests the Odyssey is holding value reasonably well, but not strongly appreciating. Its family-focused appeal and broad usefulness should help support demand, especially among shoppers who prioritise practicality over flash.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2021 Honda Odyssey should once again earn a Top Safety Pick recommendation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA crash test assessment aside from rollover resistance, for which it earns a four-star score.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, pedestrian braking, road-sign recognition, and a dashboard menu button for quick access to ADAS settings. That said, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning still requires the Touring trim. The system works accurately, but the adaptive cruise control can feel a bit abrupt, and the lane-departure warning uses steering-wheel movement rather than vibration.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds improved safety, upgraded technology, and refreshed styling for the model year.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $37,537 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $37,318 CAD average.
• It keeps the same original-recipe approach with no changes.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better value if you want the refreshed safety and tech package without paying more for the next model year. If you are price-sensitive, the 2021 makes the stronger case; if you want the same formula and are comparing listings closely, the 2022 does not add enough to justify a higher average price.
