How much does the 2021 Honda CR-V cost?

Is the 2021 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda CR-V earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the outstanding safety features, the spacious and comfortable interior, and the excellent fuel economy. That lines up with the CR-V’s practical, broadly appealing role as a compact SUV for everyday Canadian use, especially if you want something easy to live with rather than flashy.

There are 27.7% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a reliable, highly rated SUV that many owners feel good about keeping for the long haul. The expert overview also frames the CR-V as a proven, familiar crossover that has been refined over many years, which supports its dependability story.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some examples may have been chosen for practicality over equipment, so condition and maintenance history matter more than badge appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the least equipped version, and the biggest safety-related gap is that blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not standard there.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses the same 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and a CVT, so you are shopping for equipment rather than a different drivetrain.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard across the range and includes a multi-angle rearview camera, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and auto high-beam headlamps.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a 7-inch high-definition touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SMS text messaging functions.
• Fuel efficiency: The CR-V is rated as low as 8.3 L/100 km city, 7.0 L/100 km highway, and 7.7 L/100 km combined in FWD form; AWD models are rated at 8.7 L/100 km city, 7.4 L/100 km highway, and 8.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda CR-V is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is the least equipped and misses blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, so it makes the most sense only if price is your top priority.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim because it adds the blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert that the LX lacks, while keeping the CR-V’s core strengths intact.
• EX: This trim builds on the lower grades with more comfort and convenience equipment, making it a sensible middle ground if you want more features without stretching too far.
• EX-L: This is the better pick if you want a more upscale feel, including the richer interior presentation and upgraded audio-related equipment.
• Touring: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped CR-V, including the top-end tech and convenience features such as navigation and the wireless phone charger.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim, so even the base model gets the core safety suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda CR-V?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 723 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.70% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,852 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $25,852 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,612 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can put some pressure on future resale values if supply stays healthy. For a seller, it means you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially if your CR-V is not especially well equipped.

On the other hand, the CR-V’s broad popularity and strong owner satisfaction help support demand. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2021 Honda CR-V earned both a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and an IIHS Top Safety Pick award.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim and includes a multi-angle rearview camera, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and auto high-beam headlamps. The only feature not on the lowest LX trim is blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, which becomes standard on the Sport and stays standard above it.

The main caveat is that it did not reach Top Safety Pick+ because of lower headlight scores and the updated side crash test, and it also received an Acceptable rating for LATCH ease of use.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its standard Honda Sensing safety suite and strong expert safety score.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $25,102 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $25,852 CAD average.
• It is a familiar, comfortable, and practical compact SUV with strong handling and fuel-efficient character.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market mix of value, safety, and owner satisfaction, the 2021 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the core CR-V formula.
