CarGurus Analysis: 2021 GMC Acadia

Summary
With 65 currently listed for sale and an average price of $30,114 CAD, 26.2% of 2021 GMC Acadia listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 GMC Acadia 4.86 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2021 GMC Acadia sits in the second generation of the model, which marked the move from a full-size to a midsize SUV. That shift made it more affordable, but it also meant losing the optional eight-seat configuration. For buyers who want a used three-row crossover with a more manageable footprint, that change is a big part of the Acadia’s appeal.
For 2021, the Acadia benefited from the updated infotainment system introduced in 2020, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and that system was upgraded to available wireless smartphone compatibility in 2021. The model also offered a choice of powertrains in this generation, including a 3.6-litre V6 rated at 310 hp and 271 lb-ft, and in Canada front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive were available for most of the generation. The trim range was broad, with SLE, SLT, Denali, and a late-addition AT4, giving shoppers a wide spread from practical to more upscale or rugged.
What makes the 2021 Acadia distinctive is the way it blends family-friendly space with a fairly broad equipment list and a strong V-6 option. Owners also tend to value its comfortable interior and the extra room in the third row compared with smaller models. On the downside, some shoppers may miss features that were available on earlier models, and common complaints include the manual sunroof adjustments and a suspension that can feel floaty.

We are pleased with the SLE features. Compared to our Equinox LT, it was missing heated front seats, a powered driver’s seat and lift gate. However, the 3rd row was an upgrade that we needed. The V-6 engine is also strong. We sacrificed gas mileage, but upgraded in cabin space, so it was a win for us.

The SLT meets all of my requirements and has some features that I didnt even know I was getting. A bit smaller than the Buick Enclave we traded in but we were looking to downsize a bit (we are retired and didnt need the full size car). The one draw back is the ugly front plate holder but its required in TX so you are just stuck with it.

Suspension a little floaty, not the vehicle for me. Nice features and plenty of room.

How much does the 2021 GMC Acadia cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $30,092 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $28,994 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $32,034 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $32,046 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.10% |
Prices have softened 6.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 64 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of choice in the used market.
Is the 2021 GMC Acadia a good car?
Yes — the 2021 GMC Acadia earns a 4.86/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently highlight the comfortable interior, the spaciousness, and the strong V-6 engine, while the extra room in the third row makes it especially appealing if you want a family-friendly three-row SUV with a manageable footprint. The Acadia’s use case is strongest if you want a midsize crossover that balances practicality with a fairly broad equipment list. With 26.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 GMC Acadia reliable?
Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable and trouble-free enough to recommend, especially for long-term use. The positive comments focus on comfort, space, and the strong V-6, which are the kinds of traits that usually matter most when you plan to keep a used SUV for years. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright dissatisfaction and more about making sure the specific example you choose has been maintained well and suits your expectations for ride quality and features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 GMC Acadia?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 64 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.10% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $28,994 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 GMC Acadia's resale value?
The current average of $30,092 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,046 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can be helpful if you are buying now but less favourable if you plan to sell soon. If you own one, the softer pricing trend means you should expect resale values to be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and equipment. On the other hand, a well-kept Acadia with the right features can still hold buyer interest because it fits a practical family-SUV role.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2021 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 26.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.10% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2021 is a strong choice if you want the updated infotainment setup, available wireless smartphone compatibility, and the familiar Acadia formula of family space and a comfortable cabin. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2021 is the better pick when you want a balanced mix of features, owner satisfaction, and current market value.
