What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Dodge Durango?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Durango’s trims range from more basic family-focused versions to more premium and performance-oriented models, and the lower trims miss some of the richer cabin materials and more advanced equipment found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: You can find a 3.6-litre V6, 5.7-litre HEMI V8, 392 HEMI V8, and supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI V8, all paired with an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive in Canada.
• Safety package: The Durango comes standard with a federally mandated back-up camera, airbags, and electronic stability control, while adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, rear-cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and forward-collision warning are available depending on trim or package.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while higher trims get a 10.1-inch screen with Uconnect 5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected services, two Bluetooth connections, TomTom navigation, and SiriusXM with 360L.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel consumption figures are not stated in the available data.

Which 2021 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?

The 2021 Dodge Durango is offered in 5 trim levels: SXT, GT, Citadel, R/T, SRT 392.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point if you want the Durango’s core three-row layout and V6 power without moving up the price ladder. It gets the 8.4-inch touchscreen, but it is the least equipped choice for shoppers who want more premium features.
• GT: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it keeps the V6 and adds a more appealing equipment mix, including the larger infotainment setup and available family-friendly tech options.
• Citadel: Choose this if you want a more upscale Durango with the V6 or available V8 upgrade, plus a more premium cabin feel and more available comfort features.
• R/T: This is the right pick if you want the 5.7-litre V8, standard SRT Performance Pages, and the Tow N Go Package availability for stronger towing and performance character.
• SRT 392: Pick this if you want the most serious performance focus short of the Hellcat, with the 392 HEMI V8 and track-oriented hardware.

Safety-package note: many of the Durango’s active safety features are optional rather than standard, so check each trim carefully.

Should I buy a 2021 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds the SRT Hellcat variant and Tow N Go Package, giving it extra appeal for buyers who want serious muscle and towing capability.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,162 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $32,737 CAD average.
• It blends three-row practicality with muscle car styling and multiple powertrain choices.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version with the strongest mix of updated tech and special trims, the 2021 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you still want the Durango’s space-and-power formula, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly path.
